Draco looked down at where Harry had intertwined their little fingers, and back up at the fairy lights he had conjured. He knew he was an eighteen year old boy, and really shouldn’t think such things, but Harry was adorable. He just wanted to kiss him, to bask in him, to be surrounded by him. Pulling on their hands, he moved Harry round so he was in front of him once more, and he slipped his free hand under Harry’s jacket to rest on his waist. He smiled at the hitch in Harry’s breathing - he’d made that happen, him! - and brought his lips down to meet Harry’s for another kiss. He kept the kiss gentle and teasing, following the mood set by Harry’s accident conjuring.
A rumbling noise surprised him into breaking the kiss. “Hungry?”
“Mmm,” Harry replied before tilting his face back up for another kiss. Draco complied - how could he not? - but when Harry’s stomach grumbled again, he broke it off with a quiet laugh.
Harry ducked his head, blushing. “It is nearly lunchtime. And we’ve been flying!”
Draco nodded, but truthfully, he was in no hurry to leave the shed. Was this a one time thing? What did Harry want? Surely they couldn’t be a couple openly? Did he want a relationship? He could feel these questions chase away his post kissing bliss, and he hated it - but he had to be realistic. Gone was the entitlement of his youth.
The questions quieted, however, when Harry moved his hand so they were holding hands properly, rather than just little fingers. “Would you like to have lunch with me?”
Draco felt a big stupid grin forming, and he didn’t bother to restrain it. “At the Gryffindor table?” He hated how unsure his voice sounded.
“Yeah.” Harry shrugged. “Or the Slytherin one. It’s not like it’s against the rules, and with McGonagall’s current obsession with house unity, it’d probably be encouraged.” Harry looked down at the floor. “But if you don’t want to….”
Draco felt like Harry’s hand was the only thing tethering him down. “I do want to.” He squeezed Harry’s hand, and leant forward to place a swift kiss on his smiling lips.

As they walked back up to the castle, they saw an impressive snow fort built by some of the younger students. All the pupils seemed to be taking advantage of the snowfall to play outside. Harry stopped walking, and lifted their joined hands to point at a group of first and second years tearing round in a light-hearted snowball fight. “I love seeing people laugh and play. Especially here.”
Draco nodded. He didn’t need to say anything. He squeezed Harry’s hand again - trying to convey both understanding and comfort. The answering squeeze made him sure the message was received.

When they reached the traditionally decorated Christmas tree by the doors to the Great Hall, Draco felt his stomach twist in nerves. He was going to sit at the Gryffindor table. He hoped he wasn’t going to be eaten….
