“This’ll scar,” she said, as she tended to an open wound.
Severus ignored her, unwilling to acknowledge neither his injury nor her gentle touch. In his effort, he’d turned his face directly away, eyes firmly shut in defiance.
“Oh, Severus my darling, please don’t be upset with me.” she whispered, delicately pulling his face around to look at her. There were creases around his eyes; he was holding them so tightly.
For a moment Severus was close to saying he didn’t blame her. But a loud noise alerted them to his father’s return; nothing else could be said between them.
