AN UPDATE, WTF IS THIS

AIIGHT I need to update this thing…so what better than a mostly-fandom-related post?

[…Answer: Nothing better, and yet somehow at the same time EVERYTHING better.]

First off, a Real-Life-related something: ARGH, SNOW. This was of course acceptable while I lived in the Midwest, but here in the South? Not so much, no. [Translation: DO NOT WANT, MUST MOVE FARTHER SOUTH.] It was a little nice getting a few days off from work, but…ergh, having to deal with the insanity of 95% of the drivers here when I *DO* have to go to work? Not really thinkin’ it’s worth it. B| And last I heard, we were slated to get MORE snow this weekend.

…/PACKS UP ALL THE SNOW AND MAILS IT TO JULES, FFFFF

AND NOW ON TO FANDOM STUFFS~

-I watched that new (well, new-in-the-UK-last-summer) BBC show Sherlock, and enjoyed it every bit as much as I expected to, if not more. CAN’T WAIT UNTIL FALL (…OR WINTER/SPRING FOR THOSE OF US HERE IN THE STATES? AUGH) WHEN THEY’LL HAVE MADE AND RELEASED THREE MORE EPS. ♥♥♥ I’ve seen some mixed reviews of this series, though the sticking point for a lot of people seems to be…that Sherlock doesn’t seem warm and caring enough in regards to The Common Man-that he has the intelligence, the mind, but not the heart.

And to that, I say…meh. I can definitely see why they’d say or think that, but as A Modern Adaptation, Holmes’ character has to undergo some changes as well to really fit. And I also think…sociopath or not, his seemingly cold, carelessness about human life is more of an act than anything. I think he does care, but can’t let himself seem like he does, can’t let it get in the way of his logical mind’s workings, and so he sets it aside.

And perhaps it’s just me being my usual Machiavellian self, but…when at one point Watson says, those are human lives, don’t you care about them?…in reply, Sherlock says, would it change anything if I did? Please note that while it’s not a yes, that is not exactly a no either, and while he does go on to say, well then I shall continue to not make that mistake…well. Words are only ever just that: words. In any case, Sherlock shows concern for Watson’s well-being, at least, especially in the last bit of the last/third episode, when Moriarty has captured the good doctor and is confronting them both. lmao He REALLY DOES practically rip Watson’s coat off so he can get at and remove the bomb. Enough for this exchange to occur:

...BRB, DYING LAUGHING.

-Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes! Got this game for Christmas, and MAN, I THINK I SORT OF LOVE IT. I’ve not really played it all that much yet, but some of it is so goofy, I can’t help cracking up. I’ve only played as Yukimura so far (AH’M JOHNNY YONG BOSCH!!!), but the fact that he has…basically NO ‘INSIDE VOICE’ EVER amuses me to no end. Also, fighting with a flaming spear in each hand? Wonderful. I get such a kick out of it. And it is rather more like a fighting game than anything, so the fact that I like it so much (and am actually pretty good at it) was a bit unexpected for me. …HOPES x1000000000 MORE NOW THAT SOMEHOW YUKIMURA CAN MAKE IT INTO MvC3 AAAAAAAAA D'X though I really doubt it’ll happen, sob

-Hunter x Hunter! Still Netflix-ing it, and am almost caught up with the manga. I would be by now, but…slow computer is slow, and honestly, I’ve hit the NOOOOO I Love This I Don’t Want To Finish This I Want It To Go On FOREVER! wall, so my progress has been…next to nil. RE: where I am in the manga - lovin’ Killua more than ever, and missing Kurapika more than ever. :[

-The Pillars of the Earth. Borrowed the miniseries from the library, and…well. If you like Game of Thrones, I think you’d probably like this as well. I, however, am not really a fan of George R.R. Martin’s work-his world just seems too…dark and ugly without any real light to it. The GOOD people are hurt or killed and just can’t ever seem to get a break, situations are twisted and oftentimes outright disgusting, and everything’s just going to hell in a handbasket that has been filled with newspaper and woodshavings, doused in gasoline, and then lit on fire. Meaning, it’s all very predictable, but it REALLY just feels like the author said, ‘What is the ABSOLUTE MOST TEETH-GRINDINGLY FRUSTRATING THING I could have happen now? OKAY, LET’S DO THAT.”

…Ugh. Give me Tolkien or Eddings or DWJ or Pratchett over that any day. And I realise the TV miniseries might very well have changed a lot of things, but I don’t doubt that the basic plot is largely the same. And I don’t think I’ll be picking up those books any time soon, if ever. ...PLUS there are just SO MANY CREEPERS IN THIS THING. SO. MANY. I AM (UNFORTUNATELY) NOT EVEN JOKING.

-Darker Than Black! Still only on the first series, but I really like it thus far. Very cool, good action (lmao ‘electric Batman’ indeed, Logan), Hei is quite likable, the plot is interesting. I also really like Yin, Mao, and the police chick, Kirihara Misaki. And the goofy detective and his assistant amuse me. But Hei’s landlady steals almost every scene she’s in. X’D She is hilarious to me. X’DDD It’s Genkai all over again.

...Also, I think this face will amuse me forever:

-And one last fandom-ish note: am currently rather tickled that I’ve convinced my bro to watch what’s up of D.Gray-Man on Netflix Instaplay with me. Especially…since he just asked if we could watch more last night. 8DDDD …Though TBH, while I’ve of course read all the DGM manga, and some parts of it several times…I’ve not seen all the anime. And frankly, all the MASSIVE CHANGES plotline-wise…are kinda annoying me a bit. B|

…Think that’s all for now. Also YES STILL WORKING ON THOSE DRABBLES, sorry guys!

…/wanders off to go read Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Slayer, which is by the same guy who wrote Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which I really sort of loved, and I've heard good things, so this promises great amusement. B]
