Flat Bed

Jul 07, 2004 23:48

I woke up at 7:45 this morning, and the light on my phone kept blinking. I open the phone and I notice a voicemail and missed call. It's Nick Zayas and he called me at 4:58 in the morning... leaving me a 5 hour message that was nothing more but crunchy sounds and conversations with other people... and um he was talking to himself in the bathroom while he had to use the toilet... it was awkward, very awkward....?????

For those of you interested in hearing about my film school experience... if there are any of you, well I finished editing my film today. Editing on Steenbeck's is really interesting. It really changes ur perspective on editing and how you shoot your films. Anyways, trying to figure out how I was going to begin, one of the post-production supervisors explained to me how yay I come from a line of digital editors.. and that I need to get used to flat beds because flat beds are what made digital editing... they are the starting point... therefore, I should be at the starting point???? seeing everything digitally complicates you during manual editing... every decision is important you have to pre-visualize the shots before connecting otherwise you'll ruin the frames by splicing too much and taping too much...

It's a lot of fun, the faculty at NYU are really awesome, some of the students that I have met are really intelligent. I'm having an awesome time up here. Hope all your summers are awesome too...
