Well...
I finally got my NYU ID so I can enter buildings... and Tisch it was that I chose first to go through.
I walked in with a huge question mark above my head, however, this time as I approached security I stuck my ID out and was like what now!!! (last time they didn't let me in because I had no id) When I asked for directions to the film school, everyones like, you go to school here and you don't know??? lol, hey its my first time... i'm trying to get familiar here... there is nothing wrong with that.
Anyways, he told me like 4th floor so we went up the 4th floor. When we walked out there was this portrait called "The Wooden Mirror" It was the coolest thing, it has a small camera adjusted to it and you simply stand in front of it and the wooden chips in correlation to the light and shadows outline a picture of your face, and as you move, it moves with you - really cool.
We continued through these halls and saw all these cool plasma screens with cameras that create an image if you walk in front of them. When we approached the end of a hallway a faculty asked if we needed help, i'm like is this the film school? He's like no thats floor 9, this is - i don't remember - something with like interactive media or something.
So my brother and I felt like a bunch of idiots... idiots... anyways, we went to the 9th floor - movie posters EVERYWHERE of successful film students who've broken into Hollywood and Independent industry. We continued and went left where we saw a reception desk. Asking the girl at the reception desk where the Post-Production facility is, she was very nice and gave me a cool tour. Pretty much there was just steenback editing tables in a bunch of small rooms - she explaiend to me how I will be in class from 9 - 5 and then spend an extra 7 hours after class in post production. The post production for the class I am enrolled in is done manually so I will be splicing, attaching, all of that etc. etc. I did not get a chance to see the soundstages nor the digital editing rooms or anything else. My face was so in shock and so excited I couldn't even speak when spoken too... the very moment I entered those doors I accepted the fact that Yes, I got into NYU Film School... and not to volunteer.
Wow, thanks guys - I couldn't have done it without you. This is the ultimate coolest feeling ever.
So, after my tour I walked back to the elevators with a huge smile on my face that couldn't close. As we were leaving, I just got this feeling that I wanted to stay there, and not go anywhere but we had to go.
And that was that - the first visit to film school - experience. I would have written this like a movie for you guys but I am too excited to talk about it that its just all coming out.
Other than NYU, New York City has been a crazy trip. I brought a camera with me and took sooo many pictures. There are soo many places to photograph. There is still a lot of things I haven't done, which I hope to finish today... but there is so much to do you... ahhh. its crazy.
Well, that's all for today guys. I hope you are all having the SUMMER OF YOUR LIFE! and if not... at least make the best of it.
Bye.
