I'm really starting to regret my decision to become a teacher. I just spent 9 hours correcting/grading papers, and I'm still not caught up. The last few weeks there have been at least 2 days each week that I've stayed after school to grade or plan something until at least 5. I feel like I lose my hobbies during the 9 months I teach, the breaks aren't long enough because I'm correcting or planning something during them. And I still don't feel connected to my students like I was in Ventura. I've been seriously thinking of switching careers; something that doesn't involve so much human interaction and take-home work. Most days I am nervous about teaching and how certain classes are going to go, and I am no longer find any interest in teaching. I am excited for the speech season, but that means that I just have that much more work during the months of Jan-April. Because of all the work, I'm seriously starting to hate my job. I might look for easy secretarial jobs or book editor jobs. I don't think I'm interested in teaching any more.
