Ok, five-minute entry. Ready? Set. GO!
1.) I saw Inception last night. It. Blew. My. MIND! I'll keep my review spoiler-free in case you guys haven't seen it yet. First off: it's definitely one of my favorite films of the summer. The fight scene with Joseph Gordon-Levitt? SO AWESOMEEE. And Ellen Page surprisingly didn't annoy me as she sometimes does. I actually really liked her character. Tom Hardy, though, stole my heart ♥ Why is he so awesome? And OMG, Leonardo DiCaprio is just too amazing (yeah, so what if I sound like a five year old saying things like, "OMG!" and "AWESOMEEE" and "too amazing!" Deal with it). You'd never guess that he got his start on a crappy tv sitcom ("Growing Pains." Hey, it was crappy. I loved the hell out of it, but it was still crappy) because his acting is just so on point, every single time. That's the mark of a truly talented actor, in my opinion.
The effects, the nervous sort of tense humor, the sheer mind fuckery...yep, I'd give Mr. Nolan a good pat on the back.
I give it 4.873 stars out of 5 (I really want to give it 5 out of 5 but I just...can't. 5 out of 5 is reserved for the BEST MOVIE EVARRR. And Inception was awesome, don't get me wrong, but I don't know if it's BEST MOVIE EVARRR-worthy).
2.) So apparently there's a tropical storm (depression? I don't even know) headed our way within the next 36 hours. No worries, non-South Florida friends! Tropical storms are actually appreciated. They give us the rain we so desperately need. In addition, tropical storms make for nice weather. Just enough rain to keep things chill and calm at work, but not too much to go to the bookstore. I love tropical storms (you know you're a South Floridian when you see more pros than cons in a severe weather alert).
3.) I'm supposed to be going to lunch with some old high school friends of mine. Talk about awkward. They were good friends to me when we were in high school, but it's been so long, and I feel like we've changed so much that we'll have nothing in common anymore. I don't know. I don't talk to many people that I'd graduated from high school with anymore (despite the fact that 50% of my graduating class goes to my university). I'd much rather catch up on my ever-growing pile of assignments instead *sigh*
4.) I still can't get over how awesome Inception was. I've always liked the whole dream theory topic. My dad has all these subconscious and dream theory books from his college days that I used to obsess over when I was about fourteen or fifteen. There actually was a chapter in one of the books about dreams within dreams and their significance. I just thought it was hella awesome that Nolan actually made a movie about it.
5.) My mind is still blown. And this entry has taken me more than five minutes to write *headdesk* It actually took me fifteen minutes to post. It's because I had to get all fangirl-y about Inception (MIND FUCKERY HAS NEVER FELT THIS GOOD). I guess I'll be late to lunch. Ohhh well.
