...*comes back from the dead*

It's about half past midnight and I can't sleep. Sorry I haven't updated as often as I'd said I would (so much for those once a week updates I promised, lolll). I'm still around reading and whatnot! I had midterms the first week of March, then spring break the second week, and then the third week I was swamped with so much research work, it was horrible. At last, this week I finally got a chance to relax, and now here I am, updating. I'm just constantly surrounded/crushed by schoolwork and preparation for the impending doom that is graduation/my future. Y'know, the usual. Ok, so recap of my month, brought to you by a bullet-point™ post:

  • My spring break (which was two and a half weeks ago now :/ I miss it oh-so much) was pretty tame. I didn't get a chance to hang out with many of my friends from home due to conflicting schedules/different spring breaks (Kevin, Katt, I'm looking at you guys), which was a bummer. Buuut I spent most of my time with my roommate Amanda, her boyfriend (aka probably my long lost brother since we're so alike and one of his aunts married into a family with my last name, wtf) Omar, and two foreign friends of mine, Michael (who's from Holland) and Alejandro (who's from Spain and whom I've known for two and a half years now). We basically either went to downtown Fort Lauderdale or the beach everyday and bummed around at Amanda's house when we weren't out and about. It was relaxing, more than anything.
  • A week after spring break, I drove down to Orlando for the night to meet up with Jess (bolivarblues). She and her mom so graciously treated me to dinner at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville in City Walk. Then we just mostly bummed around (I'm starting to think that bumming around is all I know how to do these days, lol), but it was fun! The food was good, the company was even better, and a good time was had by all (I hope, lol).
  • Last week...nothing happened, so this is just a waste of a bullet, isn't it?
  • Anyway, today I decided to put together a bucket list. Well, it's more of a bucket list in regards to my undergrad years. After I graduate, I won't be able to do half the crazy things I'd like to do, so I'm giving myself the remainder of my undergrad career to complete the list. So far, I only have four things, but they will each - with the exception of one - cost me a fortune, lol. I need to start putting cheaper things on this list.

    1. The first thing on my bucket list is to attend the Winter Music Conference, more commonly known as Ultra. It's essentially a three day rave filled with music and non-stop dancing. Some people camp out and stay the whole three days. I'm not so sure about the camping out part, but I'd definitely love to go and just dance my little heart out. It's about $300 a ticket, which is why I haven't gone before (that, and it starts in the middle of the week, which is not good for my class schedule). I'll probably have to end up taking out a loan to pay for the things I'd like to accomplish on this bucket list, but I don't even care. It'd be worth the debt.

    2. Eat at Satchel's Pizza. Satchel's is this local pizza place that EVERYONE who's ever been to Gainesville raves about. Personally, I was in love with Mellow Mushroom (THE BEST PIZZA PLACE TO EVER EXIST, HANDS DOWN). Ever since they closed the one in downtown Gainesville, I've never been able to find another pizza place to fill the void. I don't think anything can ever measure up to MM, but I've heard so many damn good things about Satchel's that I think it might lessen the loss.

Plus one of the tables at Satchel's is in a bus. Not even kidding. This place is in the heart of Gainesville (aka what is considered to be legitimately the middle of nowhere), hence the random open field of nothingness. Yes, I go to college in the middle of nowhere. Thank God for the active student life, otherwise I don't think I'd ever survive.

But anyway. I totally have to hit this place up ASAP. It's because of places like this that I love Gainesville. It's hippie as shit, but it has this way of being so darn charming and hipster at the same time.

    3. I need to go to Mardi Gras. And I'm not talking about Mardi Gras at Universal Studios or at some celebration at a local bar. I'm talking about the real deal in New Orleans. I've always wanted to go to New Orleans (so filled with culture and history - two of my favorite things!). Obviously I'd go to the night time revels, but I'd love to visit a few museums and historical sights. And yes, I am aware that my geek is showing. Deal with it :P

    4. Bonnaroo is a three-day outdoor music festival. Long story short, almost every artist/band that I've always wanted to see will be here. Here's a list of the ones I'm most excited for: Dave Matthews Band, Kings of Leon, Jay-Z, Conan O'Brien, Weezer, Damian Marley and Nas, Regina Spektor, Rise Against, She & Him, Against Me!, Kid Cudi, Calexico, Ingrid Michaelson, Manchester Orchestra, The Temper Trap, Circa Survive. I'm flipping out the most over She & Him, I think. THIS WILL BE THE CLOSEST I WILL EVER GET TO MY ROLE MODEL/LOML, ZOOEY DESCHANEL. EVER. Must. Go. To. Bonn. A. Roo! And I have to see Kid Cudi. I've had three opportunities to see him, and I let them all pass due to school/family commitment/financial constraints. But he's going overseas sometime this summer to tour and this will be my last chance to see him before he's abroad for like a year.

Anyway, it's kind of late, and I have to be up early tomorrow. I have an early doctor's appointment (I'm sick with some sinus/flu/shingles thing. Idek. I have these rash things, and my sinuses want to explode, and I've been running a high fever - over 101F - all day). Plus I have to make it to class tomorrow, so I'll need all the sleep/strength I can get. I'll try to update more. Until next time, LJ!

uf, bucket list, random, real life
