So, on a random spurt of activity I decided to try and draw my girlfriend,
bluebythebook - Hayley. I actually think the scan of it caused the dimensions to be warped somewhat. I'm not sure how. It was an all-in-one scanner/printer/copier thing-a-ma-jig. Still, I like the way parts of it came out. It obviously needs work and isn't perfect. The upper right forehead looks awful. In my opinion, it is worse after scanning than the actual image. I drew this from a photograph of Hayley and I. In the photo, my face is smashed up against the right side of her face. So, I was compensating for that section of the photograph. Clearly a fail. Also the left cheek just under the hair could use some more shading. This was just a simple sketch. I erased so much that I wound up putting a decent tear in the paper by her hair. So after that, I didn't want to mess up my Moleskine any further. On the plus side of the scanner, the auto levels feature in Photoshop really brought out the shading that was fading due to me using a crappy basic #2 pencil.
Here's the sketch scanned straight from the Moleskine.
Here's the sketch after using the auto levels feature.
