Omg I am so done with LJ ads... I wrote you a novel...

Jan 22, 2011 02:24

The first fucking order of business in 10-14 days when our (hopefully glorious) other internet is activated (dude, to be done with this download restriction will be blissful enough let me tell you [oh internet, such a sordid relationship we've had over the years...]) is layout the hell out of my livejournal, and then see how I feel about 15 bucks every six months. These damn ads though... I really think fifteen dollars is a small price to pay. Besides it's not like it's highway robbery. I also need to do a blitz of picture uploading. I should tape my camera SD card to my forehead, who doesn't like a million pics of roadtrip scenery?

So what's new in my life you might find yourself asking??? (I also might find myself asking.)

Well...

The newest thing is that I joined a gym along with my wife Amanda and my other wife Lindsey. It's only fifteen bucks a month (it would have been twenty, but apparently Target has perks unlike Walmart), and it's literally five minutes away from our humble abode. In the proper gym spirit today I bought some cute pink athletic shorts so the Stair Master doesn't defeat me from heat exhaustion, and also a combination lock so our valuables remain secure while we're exercising as well as some hand towels that were on sale in festive colors for wiping my sweat drips (you know it's working when you REALLY perspire). More on exercise below.

The second newest thing is I finally cornered our slacker landlady and got her to send over the maintenance guy to fix my end of the shared closet. It took five seconds to fix and of course I'd been waiting since like the beginning of December and living out my laundry basket. In any case I now have my clothes arranged, again, and have creatively stowed my heaviest and things that least needed a hanger in my plastic storage drawers. So now I just need to literally stairmaster my ass off so I can fit into all of the clothes that I want to. Three cheers for the end of feeling like a fatty, and hearty 'boo' for P-day in less than six days though at least the bloating is only temporary.

A semi-new thing is that Amanda is now employed at a chiropractor's office. I will also be scouring Craigslist for some added income once the new internet is activated. Unless of course a)they magically fire slacker girl and want to hire a new person right away or b) I win a million bucks. If anything I'm planning on submitting my resume to this health care company called Kaiser where I will basically answer the phone, answer questions, and make a shit ton of money. Apparently my chances are decent since I know people who know people on the inside. *insert Mission Impossible Music here*. With that shit-ton of money I would like to save moniez for graduate school and maybe see about getting a new car. The Olds has done it's duty and still soldiers on like a charm (I mean, hey, look how I made it across this grand ol' U.S. of A.), but I honestly want to be a hippy yuppie and get a Prius. I can't complain too much though. I'm hardly spending a fortune on gas since I rarely go further than work most days. In any case, I am tired of my ghetto shifting apparatus amongst other things.

My birthday was fun even though it lacked the charming company of two of my bestest and dearest friends. We ate out at Emilio's my new go-to Mexican eatery that is SUPER DELICIOUS. It is my new Rancho Bravo. I got a beef taco combination plate when I went the first time and I got the shredded beef instead of the ground beef... ORGASM FOR THE MOUTH. I mean wow, EVERYTHING was delicious. I even shoveled down my refried beans... and we all know that I'm not really a believer in eating such things. Also the chips and salsa are to die for. Oi, I am making myself hungry, the salsa is kind of on the hot side and there is definitely a strong hint of lime to it, but I think it just adds the right touch. In a pinch The Taco Shop by Stater Bros. is pretty good too. Then we went to V.I.P. which is a club. It would have been better if hadn't been a spur of the moment thing since if you go earlier you don't have to pay a cover, and then we couldn't stay and dance really since most of us had to be at work early the next day. However, it was still a lot of fun. :)

Oh after my birthday and before today I've managed to fit in some movie-going too; Tron: Legacy, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Black Swan, and The Green Hornet (and before my birthday was Tangled I believe amongst other things, Tron may have been before too...dates aren't important, lol). Chronicles of Narnia I thought was pretty good it stuck pretty closely to the book as far as I could tell (it's been a while) so that's not bad I hope they continue the series. Black Swan was visually amazing, the music was gorgeous, and some of it was creepy as hell; however, if you're looking for something beyond artsy you might be disappointed though it's got a definite storyline it's not all WTF like The Fountain. Tron was AWESOME if only because I'm a whore for great visuals/super awesome instrumentals/and pleased by decent action sequences. I mean, it's not the BEST MOVIE EVER, but it's good if you want some action-y, sci-fi, good-ness. The Green Hornet rose way above my expectations. I don't know what input, writing-wise, Seth Rogan may have had on his usual type of movie (Super Bad and its ilk), but if he wasn't involved with the script then they obviously should let him do his thing more often. I mean yeah he kind of inhabited that party-boy dumbass persona, but he actually had some really good dramatic tension and I actually laughed out loud a lot (scrumdiddilyumptious particularly produced some lulz) plus the epic fight scenes (Kato was rad). It was just really well done, and I'm kind of hoping for a sequel though nobody is quite as an enjoyable villain as Christoph Waltz.

So there you have it. Fitness, closet woes, birthday fun, and movies.

Today I also bought a piggy bank that is blue, says "Vacation Fund" in a green reminiscent of palm trees (perhaps also slightly stylized as such) with cute sunglasses and a wee hat. I would have bought the 'College Fund' piggy bank but it didn't look nearly as fun, and I'd have to cross out college and scrawl in 'Grad School' fund, haha. The only things not accounted for in my list of today's transactions are my nail buffer and my diet mountain dew which are thus duly accounted for.

I have been quite on the purchasing spree recently, or it feels like it anyway. It's just there's the stuff that I need (like it was time to replace my shampoo and razors and get some floss and crap like that), and then a bunch of stuff I've been wanting I've been able to get on sale or for cheap (though it ends up adding up). Black Friday I went crazy. I have not had such a Merry Christmas to myself since I bought my DS. I got the most recent Prof. Layton because I was tired of waiting for the download (and it was like 15 dollars? Pretty reasonable), I got Fable III (which went kind of fast, but hey I didn't pay full price and I enjoyed it immensely for a game that is kind of about doing quests to achieve goals not to mention I can play through a second time and be a tyrant, whoot, whoot, lol), and then I also got those Suzanne Collins Hunger Games books because they were even cheaper on Amazon than at Target. Okay, so it was still less than the Christmas season of the DS, and I don't have room to complain since I'm not paying off loans and such like everyone else and it's been at the same amount post-spending each time mostly it's just annoying. It's like "oh... well, THERE WENT ANOTHER PAYCHECK AGAIN" easy come easy go I guess. Plus there was the spending money on everyone else part, but that was fun as I knew everyone would like their gifts. <3

In any case, now that January is almost out and I've joined the gym and all it will be like a clean new slate, because once I pay off the first two months of my membership plus a book and an Xbox game then I'll actually be able to save money (though I do plan on adding to my sports bras since I want to continue this working out an hour each day thing) since I'm permanent status at Target now (yay for surviving the seasonal cut), and apparently they are dedicated to having me close as much as possible so I'm hoping I'm not going to be hurting too much for hours. As long as I go back to being a pinch-penny and never buying anything my checks after rent won't be super fantastic, but nothing that needs burning through in two weeks. I have finally come to the end of the season of spending... until I renew my LJ subscription, lol.

I have not disregarded the possibility; however, of replacing my Xbox 360 with the newer improved model in near-ish but not toooo near future. The memory capacity alone is entirely inadequate, and it's not like I'd bother shelling out for the Kinnect anyway. I mean I've got a Target giftcard for Christmas and say they only gave me 50 bucks for a trade-in on my machine at worst I'd be paying ~50 bucks (if they are going to sell the bundle without the Kinnect anyway -.-) for expanded memory which can be expensive if sold separately and peace of mind that I won't get the red ring of death. However, I don't plan on rushing to Target anytime soon, especially if I ever get the chance to shell out for friggen' ComicCon. I might die of old age before they put the tix on sale. I am buying my 2012 tix at the 2011 con just to avoid aneurism and heart failure.

Omg, I think I finally have things to blog about again! I also think I have definitely violated my bed time. See you in my dreams mon petite chou(but in the plural, lol). ;)
