Saw special dentist type person that my NHS dentist referred me to. Have another 5 days of antibiotics which will hopefully deal with the pain for a while.
They said that although they can keep me on the cancellations list, it would probably be 3 months wait for treatment if I want it for free under my current NHS treatment batch.
Helpfully, my face leaked. Very embarrassing.
Receptionist then told me I could pay £95 to go 'independant' (whatever that means) and be seen in 6-8 weeks, or £195 to go private and be seen in 1-2 weeks (whoo hooo).
Although even the £95 option is really a lot of money to me at the moment, I have recently treated myself to expensive Tim Minchin and Bill Bailey tickets that were more than that, and that I didn't in any way *need*, so if I could justify that, I can justify the treatment costs. I'd still rather not have to if I can get it for free by butching up and waiting...
My other option is to try and get seen by a different NHS dentist, pay the £45-£60 and hope I can get an emergency extraction.
What would you do? I mean, if you were in pain, but poor.
