At last, my love has come along
My lonely days are over
And life is like a song
Oh, yeah, at last
The skies above are blue
My heart was wrapped up in clovers
The night I looked at you
~At Last - Etta James

Kala sat in the living room with her sister as they watched television. Lani glanced over at her on a commercial break. "I was talking to Ken today, he and Bailey were talking about all of us putting some money in on buying Mama and Papa a vacation for their anniversary."

"Sounds good to me. Think they'll actually go?"

Lani smirked. "Knowing them they'll put up a fight, but between everyone - the restaurant will be covered."

Kala frowned slightly. "Too bad I can't be there to help with that."

"Yea, well...it'll be alright. Anyways, we'll think it over. Figure out where to send them."

"Okay," Kala nodded. She brought her knees up to curl herself up and started recalling their last big anniversary. Five years before, on their fortieth, there had been a big party at the restaurant.

She remembered sitting at a table as people danced. "At Last" by Etta James was playing, and she recalled thinking how corny the song was. It was always corny and everyone always used it to dance to.

She watched her Mama and Papa dancing in the center of the floor, grinning to each other, and looking happy as they'd ever been. Bailey and Keegan were dancing together slowly and Kala smiled at the look on Bailey's face. She'd never seen her older sister so happy. Avery and Rebeka were dancing together, but Kala just rolled her eyes. She didn't find the woman good enough for her brother. She laughed when she saw Lani and Akelah dance by, obviously having a battle over who was leading.

But mostly, she watched her parents. Corny as the song was, an opinion she had always had, she couldn't stop watching them and smiling.

Kala readjusted on the couch as the song ran through her ears. She immediately thought of Ben, and dancing with him to that song. Her heart sped at the idea of it and she sighed. She finally got it. It was still corny, but she got it.
