Support/Thoughts/Prayers/Anything for Kitty...

I am so obsessed with this cat... and for good reason...
This morning at work, a woman came in with her cat, it was having pains. At first we were thinking it was in the abdomen, the doc started palpatating the chest and felt air. He suggested we do bloodwork and take chest xrays because he had a very good suspicion the air was from the lung (bloodwork cuz the cat is 9 years old and its really risky for us to put it under anestetic at that age, but we did anyways...).
This kitty mama was crying through the entire exam, I felt so horrible for her, and right now my heart breaks for her :( I know what its like to care that much about your animals <3. The total bill, without a surgery was gonna run her $300+.
The cat looks so bad he keeps freaking me out. He hurts so much he doesn't want to move. Every breath he takes I can see it. I honestly thought he wasn't going to make it to the xray...
Doc had asked the woman if it goes outside... Nope, indoor only. It lives with another cat the woman said is a bit of a bitch (Bella? Lol), but this couldn't have been a cat. She also said her boyfriend swears he didn't do anything to the cat.... to me that's a good enough admission of guilt. She also said the cat is scared of him.....
So the Xrays.... we had to retake the top view radiograph because he wasn't straight enough in the first one, but either way you could see the broken ribs and the air pocket outside the lung cavity. :'( :'(
Hmm... lets see....
~cat's indoor only, has not gotten out...
~another cat, idc how big, cannot fracture ribs like that....
~cat scared of BF and BF claims he didn't do anything to it....
Hmmmm...... what do you think happened??
Doc says he probably kicked the poor boy :'(
To lighten the situation I came up with 2 "alternatives":
~He-man/Hulk like other cat.
~Mutant rats.
I don't even want to know what that woman is gonna do/feel when doctor tells her the news.... frankly I think I'd kill the boyfriend... he obviously has no respect for a living breathing creature so fuck him, why should anyone respect his life? (Yeah, I have harsh views/opinions, but dude... if you can severely injure an animal, you can do it to a child, and you can do it to a BF/GF/spouse... IMO).
I've been taking such good care of this kitty, treating him as if he were my own. I cannot imagine the pain he's feeling.... I've tried to make him as comfy as possible. I hope we'll be able to do the surgery and help him, I hope and [dare I say] pray we don't have to put him to sleep. I feel that this mama will try to do everything she can for him.
Please keep this poor baby in your thoughts/hearts/prayers, I'm sure he needs all the support he can get. (If you need to know it, his name is Hailey.)
I'm going to try to get pictures of the Xrays this afternoon if I can. I really hope I can. Poor kid :(
