Wow, it's been a long time since I've posted on LJ. But since
honourweasley12 and I met here, the least we could do is share with you all the story of how he proposed to me.
Last week we were in Las Vegas for the wedding of one of Karim's cousins. It was a great trip.
The special night began with Karim's parents going to see Love, The Beatles' Cirque du Soleil show (a gift from their three children on their 40th wedding anniversary) and Karim and I going to see Cirque du Soleil's Ka. The show was spectacular! The stage, story and acrobatics were very interesting; two or three times I was so amazed at it all that I had a lump in my throat. After the show, Karim said that instead of going for dinner immediately (which was the original plan), he preferred that we go meet his parents at the Bellagio. I didn't understand why he was changing plans if his parents were busy with their dinner and we were going to have to wait for a long time... finally I just decided to follow his lead (he insisted he wasn't hungry and I couldn't think of anything else to do) and we took a taxi to the Bellagio. As soon as we got there, Karim saw that across the entrance of the hotel there was a garden with a balcony overlooking the famous fountains, and he suggested we could go see the water show before his parents came. We went to the garden and it was very pretty, with a nice view of the fountains and the Eiffel Tower in the background.
Also, it was a solitary place-- Karim told me later that he loved to find that place, because he was nervous to do it in front of everyone watching the show and instead we were alone on the balcony. The water and light show started along the song of "In the Mood" by Glenn Miller, and I was looking at that and the Eiffel Tower and feeling overall happy, when Karim started telling me how much he loves me and how happy I make him; that he didn't believe he would find someone like me. He said that he wished to make me as happy as I made him, and that for that reason... it was then that I finally realized what was happening! Karim put one knee on the floor, opened the ring box and asked me if I would marry him.
Obviously, at that point I had tears falling down my face, but I had enough sense to tell him I would of course marry him.
Here is another picture of after the proposal, different to the one Karim posted
here.
It turns out that Karim spoke with my dad, my mom and my uncles about it, besides his own family ... and I never found out!
Very beautiful, no?
