Clarkson's Police State Ordinance Is On
Agenda For Thurs. (11/20) Council Meeting
This Thursday(11/20) City Council is scheduled to vote on Ordinance 25,014 introduced by Jackie Clarkson(Democrat-District C). Ordinance 25,014 would require the permitting of virtually every meeting, rally or public performance in Orleans Parish irregardless of whether these events are held in public or private. Permits would be issued by the Department of Finance though the law provides no guarantee that those who request a permit will receive one. This Ordinance would dramatically expand the police powers of Orleans Parish authorities at the expense of everyone's civil liberties.
Opponents of Ordinance 25,014 are urged to attend this Thursday's meeting of City Council and to voice their opposition to 25,014. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 2pm though this always subject to change. In the meantime friends of civil liberties are urged to contact members of City Council at the numbers listed below.
