There is an aspect of my painful bridge of my nose I had been overlooking. When I wear my hoodie, my headlamp does not stay in place, especially when I am using the headlamp while packing up my work gear. The headlamp rides lower and lower down my forehead until it rests on the sore spot on the bridge of my nose. Which, of course exacerbates my painful sinuses.
Not a problem in warmer months when I do not wear a hoodie. Did not used to be a problem before I got my spiffy new wagon because I could pack my 2 work carts without needing to scrutinize what I was doing, so no need for my headlamp.
Will a different brand/type of headlamp solve my problems? I have no idea. Do I need an LED lamp I can wear on the front of my hoodie, rather than on my head? No idea.
While looking thru ebay just now I am also reminded aware of all the batteries I use, then discard. Not ecological. Waste of $$. I have needed a battery charger and a bunch of rechargeable batteries for months now.
None of these expenditures is expensive. But before I get my butt moved to a new apartment, I loathe spending any $$, especially when I really don't have a clue about exactly what I need.
I just awoke from more sleep. I really love the day of rest & sleep following days of hard work! I think so much more clearly after a long sleep!
My rent here is paid thru January 1. Weather will be warmer and dry for Samhain this Wednesday, and the following weekend. So I should be making enough $$ to buy a battery charger (<<==), batteries, and the spiffy new CREE headlamp (==>>), which should alleviate much of (if not all!) of the problems which irritate my nose.
Below the cut is a huge-ass composite pic of the CREE headlamp. After the cut I'll delineate my reasoning for wanting this particular headlamp.
The CREE has more padding and a strap going over my head. Battery pack is behind my head which should counter-balance the lamp so the headlight should not be slipping down my nose. The CREE takes 4 AA batteries instead of 3 AAA batteries, so I should get more hours between chargings. LEDs will supposedly last 10,000 hours. If I worked 7 days a week, 10 hours a day, the CREE headlamp would need replacing every 3 years or so. Since I am now working 3 day weeks, I should get more than 6 years use from the $25 unit.
I have not researched battery chargers and NICAD batteries much yet, but it seems I should be able to get batteries for both AAA and AA and charger for another $25-35. Along with the CREE headlamp, I should be able to get them all for under $75, maybe e en as low as $50. In a week from now, this should be feasible, whereas now, it is not.
On a more positive note, my packing up is getting more routine. I am still working out exactly where to pile everything prior to packing, which will enable me to grab bungee chords, clamps, tie-downs in much dimmer light. Also, pulling my wagon into its parking spot in my passageway is much simpler than it was initially, so I do not really need my headlamp when going home now, even late at night.
I still need the CREE headlamp to protect my nose wile seated at my worktable with my hoodie up in cold weather, but I may not need the headlamp when packing up and going home.
My internet connection is really really ratty today. No idea if it is a WiFi problem or if my Dell laptop is about to give up the ghost. I am looking forward to the loaner computer John will be bringing to me sometime in early November. I have been attempting to post this for over 6 9 hours and I still need to upload the big-ass graphic .
