Yesterday was full of so many good things, I went to bed beaming.
About a month ago, Michael and I went to the RenFest and saw
The Mud Show - a troupe of complete loonies who do "theater in the ground". Very muddy, very rowdy, lots of audience participation and shouting. I LOVE the shouting parts :) *halo. One of the guys announced that he was doing a show in Cincinnati Nov 15 as his alter ego, Doktor Kaboom. I chatted it up with my friends and we thought it would be a great outing for us and the kids before the holiday madness sets in. We booked 18 seats - 7 adults, 11 children - all under age 12. Yes, we are that crazy ;)
It was a very rainy morning - we were a bit later than I'd wanted to be, but we still made it with 10-15 minutes to spare. We got our tickets, settled into our seats and waited. The emcee announced that the show would start a little bit late. It was sold-out and there were large pockets of empty seats. He said he hoped everyone was going to arrive safely, because even Doktor Kaboom had been involved in an accident that morning. That explained the crumpled up trailer in the parking lot! EEP! Eventually folks made it through the traffic and parking and the show started.
I felt for the poor guy altho he was brilliant in spite of it all. He had something in his eye "I'll just do the rest of the show with no depth perception - what could possibly go wrong?". That conquered, the first experiment didn't fully cooperate. He "helped it along" by stomping the floor a few times - it finally worked and the crowd went wild! Dr K muttered it was going to be one of those days, but he kept the twinkle in his eye (and tongue in cheek) that made it such fun. He's quite funny and we all learned a little something in the process.
Since it was about a 45 minute drive for each of us, we decided to not let the fun end when the show ended, so the mass of us moved to a nearby Skyline and took over the back section. We shared some of our favorite moments from the show, laughed a LOT and drove the poor waitress crazy. Finally around 2, we said our goodbyes.
Miss K went off to be with her Dad for the rest of the weekend. Michael and I went to the movies to see "Quantum of Solace" - which is still a highly awkward name. The movie was packed with James Bond action. I hadn't seen "Casino Royale" so I missed the references back to it, but it was entertaining nonetheless. We came home and fixed a late dinner of pork roast and potatoes, and enjoyed just being together for the day.
All in all, an awesome day.
