Things that Make You Go...

???
I saw my ob/gyn today, always a TREAT (guys, don't look away, that's not what this is about - it's just the setting).

Since I changed my name recently, the receptionist handed me a stack of 4 forms to complete. I suppose scratching out the old name and putting in the new one is too simple. So, ok, I'm filling in the forms - standard medical forms, standard questions. Gauntlet #1 completed successfully.

On to Gauntlet #2. I'm in the back with the nurse practitioner, and she has another form where she asks me more personal health-assessment type questions. It got fairly weird.

"Do you smoke?" No. "Do you drink alcohol?" No. "Do you use street drugs?" Heck no.
"Do you have a family history of cancer?" Yes (explain)
"Do you have a family history of other issues like high blood pressure?" Yes (explain)
... and then came a question I don't think I've been asked before:
"Do you do silly things like jump out of a perfectly good airplane?" *snort. I said "No, in fact it usually takes a team of people to get me INTO an airplane"

I've had a great time guessing why an Ob/Gyn would need to know about that! How does the answer impact their ability to do the internal exam? Does it have to do with sustaining pressure while falling for extended periods of time? And don't even get me STARTED on parachutes.
*gigglesnort.

silly
