Especially now that I'm "old", I realized how COOL it is that my parents allowed me to indulge. I went NUTS over that book. I had a world map set up and started marking all the locations of unexplained mysteries and read loads of books on all SORTS of weird stuff - all from reading "Chariots of the Gods".
Seeings how Dad was a preacher, I think that was pretty cool of them - they didn't ever use religion as a club to beat me or my bro. They even encouraged our explorations, because they felt confident the foundation was laid years earlier and we'd choose our own paths. Rockin'.
Anyone who says you shouldn't read something because it challenges their faith, or even their world-view, is going to have real trouble when life happens to them
