FGF Weekend Update... Kinda... But *points at Icon*

Nov 19, 2007 23:33

Alright, first things first: I give over. I really do. I'm giving up on FGF as a whole.. FRIDAY thing. I think I'll still try and do the FGF Five on Fridays, for a kick: But the Whole Shebang? Moved to Sunday.* * It seems that's when it gets posted anyway, no? What say all of you? Hrm? Hrm? (Whole Shebang Sunday... I like that, I think...

Okay. Babbling done. Let's just have at it, shall we? Best thing, I think!

1) Kristen Bell is UBER, UBER annoying me on Heroes. And that makes me really sad. *Cry Face* MONDAY EDIT: Okay, see? She was really good tonight... *More Cryface*

2a) Hal Sparks's Cameo in Spiderman 2... still wins at life. Especially when it's in Hungarian.

2b) Also Hal-Related: He and his girlfriend? Really cute. They really are. It is SICK by the way, that I saw the picture did "Awww, yay for Hal!" for about 10 seconds and then went... "OMG! It's a PHOTOBOOTH picture just like Brikey! Sick.

3) This weekend, I bought People's Sexiest Man Alive Issue, because I'm a sucker and I always do. Contained within, there was possibly, the BEST PICTURE EVER of Nathan- GARDENING. I'm going to have to scan for you all, but for now: Enjoy the Serenity gag reel.
That crazy Canadian... I'd love to just ruffle his hair or something. (Incidentally: The People Mag was, very good. James McAvoy, Zachary Levi, Masi Oka, and Clive Owen all made the cut. Two FG thumbs way up.)

4) The Fratellis are a kick-ass band. For now, that's all you need to know. (I'm having to cut this short because my boss just called and I have to be at work ARSE early, but to whet your appetite check out "Chelsea Dagger")

5) The Killers... are awesome, okay? Sawdust was released last Tuesday. It's a crazy album of B-sides... which I'm also supposed to a big thing about- and will. But check out "Tranqulize", which is the neeeeeeeeew single with Lou Reed. I dig it. Also, while you're doing that: Revel in the glory of the pink coat:

Annnd A Plus One: Which, of course: will be added to later... John Barrowman's Album, Another Side, Also came out Tuesday. I'm not going to go on about it, as I have a feel a bunch of you are SICK TO DEATH of hearing about John Boy. Should you desire them, however, here's some hightlights:

*"All out of Love"- Oh, yes... it's John. Doing AIR SUPPLY. "And it's fantastic." Cheesy, sure- but it's like really good FONDUE cheese...

* "You're So Vain"- I love the original of this song, so I was a little nervous- but I adore John's version. It's sarcastic and biting, and the tempo's a bit slower... but it really works. Also, I love the way he sings "Nooooooooovaaa Scotia"

* "Feelin' Good"- Sultry, warm and absolutely fanTASTIC vocals from John. He's got a fantastic low range, which he doesn't use enough. Also: Please enjoy the delcious laugh that he does at the end of the song. (This piece of cheese... is the warm melty kind in grilled cheese...)

The critics are all saying that while technically and vocally strong, the album is a bit ho-hum... and wanders into "granny and mom" territory. I'll give them the ho- hum bits. Some of the songs just lack that OMPH that John is oh-so- capable of delievering. Overall though, it's a truly enjoyable listen. (Amusing tidbit: I brought it to work, to play for one of my residents, because she adores "All out of Love", and now have a full fledging Barrowman fan on my hands. Me= Bad Influence)

*** I really was working on this on Sunday, I was! But it ran away from me, and yeah. Sorry. I'll do betterz. I promise

Heroes was really good tonight, no? Question of the night: If Adam Monroe can regenerate and what not, and is practically immortal... does that make HIM the Face of Boe? Mwahahahaha.

And, since I've just out-nerded myself, I'm off to go watch North and South, and probably fall alseep. Life's exciting like that... :)
