Fangirl friday is when everything changes, and you've got to be ready...

Sep 09, 2007 14:01

What's this? An FGF posted in fairly close proximity to FRIDAY? Willl wonders never cease?!?!

Welcome all, to the first of the "bi-weekly" FGF's. The idea is that posting every other Friday will increase both quanity AND quality. The Fangirl Friday Five shouuuuld still be featured every Friday. For today anyway, that's my plan. :)

Enough chatter! On to the Content!

1) Dr. Who will have a "Gap Year" after the upcoming Fourth Series. I'm not sure how I feel about this. Kudos to David for staying beyond his contrart, etc... I guess I just find it all a bit omnious for the future of the show.

2) The Power Rangers are really, really amusing. They entertained me while I was on the treadmill today, and I loved every minute of it. Particularly since the episode was Catastrophe Kimberly. (Trust me, friends: It's a CLASSIC). It's been years since I"ve watched a proper episode and I observed the following:

a. The Red Ranger/Jason is only the leader because of his ability to sound urgent. I.E.: "We need the Power Sword *pause*- NOW! or "We're morphin' *pause* now."

b. Billy (Blue) was TOTALLY Hot!Nerd before it was cool. And says things like "Increase the volume, please!" *Sniggers*

c. For a morphalogical beign trapped in a tube, Zordon says some pretty amusing things. Likesay... "Alpha- recruit a group of teenagers with attitude." Or, my person favorite... "Alpha- will you PLEASE take this opportunity to recharge so that I may put myself in a meditative state?!" Quality writing, that.

d. Billy so kinda loved Kimberly for awhile I never noticed it. Har. (You people thing I'm *JOKING* when I say I was a shipper from the womb...)

e. The Green Ranger is infintely cooler than the White Ranger. For Serious.

f. Wow. I think I've outnerded myself here...

Take a moment, go watch MTV or something "cool"- and try and recover from the nerdiness... Okay... .... Back now? Excellent.

3) 310 to Yuma is an exceptionally well made movie, in my opinon. I'm not even that huge of a fan of Western's, but I loved it. Extremly intense, and psychological... in almost a Silence of the Lambs sort of way. Also, it would be so much easier to HATE Russel Crowe like I should if he weren't such a DAMN good actor. Random SQUEE moment: Alan Tudky (WASH!) was in it... as a kinda cowardly Horse Doctor. He was hilarious.

4) Anglophenia's blog over at BBCA is lots of fun. And I want her job...

5) Frodo as you've never seen him before. Ahem. I have no words. Thanks to tomrules and another1rstkiss for bringing this to my attention. Oh, Elijah...

Childrens. it a good time for FGF to be posted because NOT ONLY did Torchwoodpremire on BBCA last night, but it was followed by a certain David Tennant on the Graham Norton show. (Really, it's a miracle that I didn't explode from squee) I laughed the entire way through Graham... and my mom laughed and me... as I continually buried myself on the couch under a blanket when it got to be too siily. Oh, FYI: Next time I go to Britian, I demand to have the greeting the woman who Graham let stand in the TARDIS. Not only did get teased and coddled by Graham. When she went to go say hello to David, he shook her hand, kissed her on the cheek, and said "Welcome to Britain". ZOMG. Also? Apparently a lot of farting goes on during Filming. And David doesn't have any Chat Up lines. *Flails*

Ahem. SPEAKING of such things:

So, I'm not sure if I've made it clear enough- but maybe you've all got the point. I positively adore John Barrowman. He's incredibly talented, and I feel the need to spread the love as much as I can...

John Boy! Lovely, no? John is Scottish by birth, but was raised in, OF ALL PLACES... Joliet, Illinois. Mwahahaha. So though he's got a touch of the midwest about him, he'a Scottish by birth. Want proof?

I won't lie... I pretty much just posted this because, well... it's John with an accent, and I can't help myself.

John as Captain Jack. This is why my Dad calls him "Smilin' Jack". Last night during Torchwood dad goes "Look at the smile! He must have 36 teeth..." Mwahahahaha.

More smiley!John...

Besides being almost TOO good looking, John Barrowman is incredibly talented. I've gathered that his first really love is being a song and dance man... and he's pretty damn good at it as well. Honestly. I love his voice to bits, and the man so clearly loves doing what he does. Makes me happy...

"I am what I am from La Cage Aux Folles

SEEE?! Love! Okay, now the thing (besides the fact that he's a singing, dancing, sci-fi boy) that really, really made me heart John. There's a show called "A Taste of my Life" where Nigel Slater interviews celebrities... and delievers their biography through dishes from their life. If you love John Barrowman, YOU MUST WATCH THIS. Trust me. The whole thing is overall amusing... and touching. John Cries. His family cries... Oh, yes, and the MAN GIGGLES. HE GIGGLES. Anyway. I"m going to shut up, and you're going to go watch it on you tube.

Part 1: Where in John's Dad tells him to stop sending him clothes, and John becomes teary over banana bread. Because Banananas are good.

Part 2: In which John says MILWAUKEEEEEEE! JUST.LIKE.THAT.

Part 3: In which John reveals how he learn to smile like that...

Whew. I know that's a BUNCH of JB love, there... but if I even get ONE more fan out of it, it'll be worth it.

Captain Jack (and John) hope you have a very pleasant day... :) (My ratings just went up...)

Oh OH! I'd like to welcome fangirl_padawan! Some of you alllready know here as Roxy, but she's made a writing journal dedicated to all things FG... and you should all go check it out. Yes you should.

WHEW... Alright. Here's a teaser for the NEXT FGF:

Next FGF should feature a Torchwood primer. You'll be meeting:

The Torchwood Hotsquad!

And Ianto Jones, defender of the universe, and coffee maker extrodinare. (Just PLEASE, don't call him the Tea Boy. Unless, of course, you're Jack.)

We'll also learn how the members of TW three can go from this:

to this....

*Cackles*

Well, you're all probably questioning my sanity... which means my job here is done. Enjoy! Watch! Comment!

*Scampers off to Lunch*

ETA: Does anybody love me enough to be buy me this? or this? Or...(ZOMG!) These?
