why - viggo/elijah/orlando, 160 words

Viggo wonders if they think it was because they're pretty. Inevitably, with the self-consciousness of actors everywhere, they have to know how they look.

Elijah is treading the cusp from exquisite boyhood; he's what old books would call "a youth", as if he embodies the concept itself: a small, pale, flexible noun. Orlando stretches long-limbed and vigorous, olive skin over supple muscle over gorgeous bones. Such knowing eyes in such smooth faces; so pure and clear and vivid, they look untouched, even when they're touching each other.

They're visual poetry, and not only visual; together in Viggo's bed, sometimes they make his eyes brim. Not with sorrow but only because his senses feel so full.

They are beautiful. But it was Elijah's unhinged laugh, and Orlando's impulsively shaved scalp, and the rough eagerness that tumbled them against him one night, a night that made him need them both the next, and the next, and the night after.

That was why.
