Thousandmother by springwoof, John/Rodney, ~49,000, written for SGA Big Bang. The team are stranded on a new world and meet nonhuman aliens called the Taum who aid them, first readily, then reluctantly as Ronon, Rodney and John risk themselves to recover Teyla. Space battles, last-minute rescues, a Claw of Death... there were so many interesting aspects of this story that I could have happily read twice as much about all of it.
Start Where You Begin (McKay/Sheppard) [PG-13], ~16,000 by Skoosiepants. A domestic AU. John has a teenage daughter, Rodney's going crazy trying to raise Jeannie's very young kids. A relationship may not be easy to fit into either of their lives, but here it comes.
