Kyuhyun, Kyuhyun, Donghae wants to whisper.
Hey Kyuhyun, how're you, how you doing?
But Kyuhyun doesn't answer. At least not yet. Donghae waits for Kyuhyun to become alive, for Leeteuk to fix the parts and mend the body. It'll take time, but Donghae knows that this will be worth it.
Three months before Donghae's birthday is when Leeteuk bursts into his room with a large smile.
"It's done."
He's sleepy, he can't be blamed for the teddy that he launches at Leeteuk.
"Sorry, what?"
Leeteuk sighs, grabs his hand, and drags him out. At the dinner table, Hyukjae is standing with a bowl in his hands and his mouth wide open. Sungmin is frowning.
Kyuhyun looks at his right hand, stretching it experimentally.
"Kyuhyun?" Leeteuk asks with a smile, and nudges Donghae forward.
"Leeteuk," Kyuhyun says, voice sweet and soft, and Donghae knows now why Leeteuk spent the longest on the voice box and brain waves.
"This is Donghae. He's just like you."
Donghae stretches his fingers before he grasps Kyuhyun's breaking out into a smile.
"I'm Donghae, nice to meet you."
Kyuhyun's fingers are slow to respond as he curls them, and Donghae smiles. Kyuhyun's frown disappears before he smiles.
"Nice to meet you too, I'm Kyuhyun."
Sungmin stands abruptly and leaves, Hyukjae following soon after. Kyuhyun's gaze follows them out of the room as his fingers curl around Donghae's a bit tighter, joints a bit stiff.
"What's--"
Leeteuk smooths hand through Kyuhyun's hair, smiling gently. So gentle, Kyuhyun things, but Donghae feels discomfort curling in the bit of his stomach.
"Nothing, it's nothing Kyuhyun." Leeteuk pets Donghae's head once before he, too leaves, and Donghae tugs at his hand.
Kyuhyun looks down.
"OH, UM, SORRY." Kyuhyun releases his hand but catches his left thumb on the table top and hisses in pain.
Donghae laughs even as he can hear the low argument in the next room.
"It's okay."
He hopes Kyuhyun can't hear.
