So one of the things that keeps bothering (?) me is that like 99% of the time people can just tell who the android in the room is, and--I'm not sure how to buy that? (And is it a notable exception that when they can't automatically tell it's with the black-market sexbots?)

I mean, I guess I can buy that say Kennex and the PD might be able to tell--I could totally see a future PD seminar on being able to identify synthetics--but regular people? I'm thinking in particular of the small children the other week who were asking Dorian if he could do any tricks and such--how did *they* know?

Because I'm thinking part of identification could be in just seeing multiples around? The white!cop!bots would of course be seen a lot, and there's a big deal made out of how Dorian's model was pulled off the market 5(?) years previously--but again, the little kids wouldn't have known that.

Any thoughts on this?

Didn't the little kids see the blue lights/vein type things in Dorian's face?

All of the synthetics who haven't been sexbots, where there's a real effort to mimic humans, have had the same standard face or processing lights or odd shapes in their faces.

I should go back and watch. My memory is that they saw he was a bot first and then he made his facial lights/patterns glow to amuse them, then they asked Kennex if he was a bot (?? just remembered that, so maybe kids can't tell at all, it's an adult differentiation thing??) and he said no and they asked if he could do any tricks so he stabbed himself in the synth leg. Does that sound right?

Erm... probably? TBH, I'm not remembering that scene in any great detail, I've just been noticing how often Dorian's face "lights up" and remembered it happening in that scene.

I'm loving the continuing partner-snark. *s* (Excuse me if I get confused because I watched ep 3 and 4 both last night) The "my coffee warmer" thing and the live slug and the dirty Q-Tip and used chewing gum. And Dorian calling John out on the use of olive oil like he suggested.

we're loving the snark in our house too! Great stories, but its the sass and banter between Dorian and John that's the heart of the show.

I do love a sassy robot.

John really has a thing for rough interrogation. I think it's rubbing off on Dorian because did you see the way he dug his finger into that bullet hole? Ouch!

Y'know I was really quite shocked by that! I wondered if it was meant to show that they were rubbing off on each other, but then I was shocked again when John shot the crooked police captain dead in the end too. Maybe I'm too soft!

I also considered that maybe Dorian acted that way because it was Rudy who was in danger - because let's be honest, Rudy's the only one who treats Dorian like a person. I have to say, though, I would have been surprised if John hadn't shot that S.O.B. For all that John believes whole-heartedly in the people he trusts, he believes even more in revenge. I think that has to do with how changed he is from 2 years ago.

I really liked that episode. Yeah, text book cases and stuff, but I loved to see more of Rudy and how he acts around people. And John caring for other people. (I guess he isn't very okay with traitors. ;) )

My favorite part this time was the "You gotta be kidding me!" at the end. ;D The robot fight was a nice touch, too.

And this time I really noticed just how tall Karl is in comparison to his co-actors. o.O I mean, woah.

The robot fight was good wasn't it, they did it well enough that you could tell by yhe moves they weren't human.
