Actor Profile - Karl Urban
YAY! It's my turn to post, so here you go :)
*waves her hands in a soothing gesture* Don't panic, the rest is under cut for length. :)
Karl-Heinz Urban is a Kiwi and hails from my neck of the woods :D
Born on 7 June 1972 in Wellington, New Zealand, Karl is a national treasure and one of many many talented Kiwis making a name for themselves abroad.
Karl started out in theatre, before moving on to TV with roles on "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" and "Xena: Warrior Princess"
This gorgeous, messy chocolate frosted cupcake is 1.85m (6'1") and has hazel-green eyes.
Hmmmmm...sounds like someone else I know ;)
Now where was I? Roles? Karl's been in a few things but my top faves are...
Eomer in "The Two Towers" & "Return of the King", parts two and three of the LotR trilogy - filmed in New Zealand.
And "Bones" in "Star Trek" and "Star Trek: Into Darkness"
I attended the Armageddon Convention in Hamilton, NZ last May and the bonus guest at the private brunch with Jason Momoa and Joe Flanigan was none other than Karl Urban!! *insert appropriate level of squee! here*
All I can say is WOW! What a wonderful guy, so friendly and open to questions and talk about his work. Obviously back then he had to be quite hush about AH, but we discussed STI2D and in a moment of awesome clarity I asked "What is it like playing a man who's yet to have the life experiences that shape him into the character we already know and love?"
I know right! I couldn't believe I'd got it out either. Karl, once he realised he'd been asked an actual question and not more squee, said that he really respected Leonard's character and attempted to keep his performance on the path where the audience could see the progression between the two portrayals. *squees happily*
