Luhan was easily banished from the luxuriant halls of Heaven. He was too power-hungry to even strive for Yifan' coveted position as the leader of all the Heavens. Much to Luhan's appearance, he's not the type to look so distraught over the issue. Moreover, ever since he had been banished along with Jongdae, Yixing and Zitao. He's tried to keep himself sane while getting used to the new surroundings to the place he's been brought to.
Minseok, Yifan's right-hand man was the only one who was left with him back in Heaven. With the other angels that were with Junmyeon, they woudn't be much compared to how many they were before Luhan was even banished.
For the most part, the other angels weren't too happy about Luhan being casted away, they just never expected him to be the type who would want to usurp Yifan of his high position. They used to remember Luhan ramble every single day about the possibility of being a pawn of Yifan's. He doesn't even know his own roots; whether he's existed ever since the beginning of time or maybe Yifan created him and erased his memories prior to his creation. Anything's possible when it's ultimately fueled by doubt, for Luhan.
Then again, for someone like Minseok who Yifan considers as his confidante, he knows a lot about what Luhan has to say about the issue. The sad thing is that Luhan wasn't able to say much to save his face before Yifan ultimately decided to cast him out, but not without a fight. Yifan had no idea about the relationship that Minseok and Luhan had for each other. It was completely unfair for Minseok's part to face Luhan in battle (yes, you read that right, cue the thronging sounds of metals clashing against each other). Minseok couldn't refuse, it would be an immediate slap on Yifan's face were he to say no. Minseok was always under Yifan, and for him to say no just because he didn't want to fight his best friend, Yifan wouldn't understand.
Minseok didn't expect Luhan to understand Minseok's position either. He knew Minseok was going to fight him, eventually. How else could he have meekly nodded when Minseok told him that the two of them were going to have to face each other in combat. No violent remarks, because he knew how much this meant for Minseok. The elder one was always the better one at fighting in combat, specifically. Even though he might be carrying the worst possible weapons, he always emerged as the victor in every combat he engaged in. Luhan could only marvel at the amazement in Minseok's determination to win every battle he decided to take part in.
The both of them had their pride on the line, obviously. But Minseok was the hesitant one, quite a rare feat for Heaven's best fighter. But they al wouldn't understand. No matter how much Yifan decides to ask the lower angels why was Minseok hesitating when this situation is clearly worse than all he's ever faced. For the first time in all their stay in Heaven, there was a traitor amongst them, and they weren't too happy about that. That would eventually mean exposing others to the tyrannical realities of Heaven, thereby creating an army against Yifan because of all the hatred that would spark from such rebellion.
Precisely why Yifan had no other choice but to cast Luhan out of Heaven while he still had time. Luhan had decided to drag Jongdae, Yixing and Zitao along with him because the three of them were able to share the same sentiments with Luhan. But, Luhan couldn't convince Minseok to go with him. He couldn't never ask his best friend to forsake his work all because Luhan and Yifan didn't share the same ideals. Luhan had a heart for some reason because he loved Minseok that way, he would understand what Minseok would tell him if Luhan asks him to come with him, and be banished, and that's part of the reason why Minseok couldn't bear to face Luhan in combat. His heart hurts just thinking about it.
"Must you leave?" Luhan remembers Minseok asking him meekly, but they haven't gone as far as meeting each other in secret ever since Yifan had been displeased with Luhan's disobedience and plotted rebellion.
"Indeed, and I know how much that hurts you," Luhan replies to Minseok softly, caressing the shorter man's cheeks. All of the celestial creatures have been blessed with majestic beauty, and Luhan was no exemption to this rule. Minseok had always been jealous of Luhan's looks and certainly Luhan had always made sure that Minseok had nothing to be jealous about because he himself was actually attractive, his self-esteem only tries to get in the way most of the time and eventually succeeds.
The two of them nod slowly to each other, and as they move closer to one another, closing the gap that was between them earlier, the two of them share a warm hug. One that didn't speak of farewells and permanent separation. But their hug was soft, gentle, one that would mean an "I'll see you again" or at something along that line because somewhere in Minseok's heart he wants to make up for what Yifan has done. But Minseok's not blaming Yifan for any of the decisions he's made, because they have all been perfectly reasonable, and anyone who was in the right state of mind would do the same.
Somewhere in Minseok's mind lies a want for him to help Luhan in his soon-to-be dilapidated state. He doubts that he could bear to take in the sight of Luhan immersing himself in deep misery whilst trapped in Hell with all the other angels who went down with him. But maybe, just maybe, he could find a way to help Luhan. Possibly without Yifan knowing, but not something that would eventually cause his own demise either.
It's a puzzle, but Minseok's encountered several puzzles in his life. This was nothing if not different.
He remembers those moments when Luhan first told him about his plans. His ideas that made Minseok be so surprised at how Luhan would consider Yifan to be a tyrant. But how? Ever since Minseok had been considered Yifan's right hand man he had never thought of his leader as tyrannical in any way. Sure, his decisions might come out as abrupt or seem as desperate or dramatic. Everyone has their moments. Later on you'll eventually realize how Yifan's decisions always made sense in the long-run; he knows what's best for each one of us, and Minseok tries to reason that out with Luhan, but to no avail.
At some point Minseok briefly wonders how Luhan managed to have this kind of mindset. Because no other angel in Heaven had ever considered their leader to have bad intentions to whatever they were normally doing. They always stuck to their normal task at hand and never really complained. It wasn't that the angels were some mindless folk who didn't really think of what they had to do, but they knew what they were supposed to do and even though they looked like mindless robots, as long as they enjoyed whatever they were doing, I guess that was enough reason for them to do so.
Still, Luhan had this earthly sense of human within him to gain this knowledge. He was more than determined to get his way, even if that meant being banished from Heaven because of his radical actions. Never would Minseok even think that Luhan would go as far as to plot an overthrowing of Yifan from his high position as the God of all the Heavenly Creatures. It wasn't enough that Minseok had to hear the thoughts of Jongdae, Yixing and Tao and all what they said were mere agreements to whatever Luhan had in mind. It was preposterous and Minseok wanted to stop Luhan from whatever he was planning to do, other than possibly throw Yifan off his high horse, if that was even possible.
Of course, Minseok knew. He knew that Luhan would eventually be thrown out of Heaven. Why wouldn't he? Luhan also knew, he was the one who knew the risks that he'd be taking. But still, he took that risk and still ran through it like it was nothing.
Luhan knew that he would be thrown out from Heaven, but that didn't stop him from moving on with his plans. Nothing ever stopped Luhan if he wanted to go for something he really thought was necessary, especially when he really wanted it. Even if he'd die in the process, he'll keep pushing through it.
Minseok briefly recalls those sweet moments minutes before he had to face Luhan in armed combat. Frankly, he still doesn't understand why he originally allowed himself to agree to this idea to begin with. It was crazy, as much as he wanted to stay faithful to Yifan, he couldn't let his best friend down all because he knew these things were ultimately going to happen. As much as he didn't want to tell Luhan, 'I told you so,' it seemed like he really needed a real dose of reality for him to understand. But even that wouldn't stop Luhan. Determined as fuck.
Their weapons were ready. Minseok keeps asking him how on earth did Yifan manage to have weapons prior to this battle, and why did he even have weapons to begin with? Was it the idea of pre-destination? Did Yifan somehow knew that this was going to happen? That there would be a traitor amongst them? That the same traitor he knew would come would be from his own army of angels? So many questions, but asking Yifan wouldn't be such a good idea at this time. Besides, the rest of his mind was transfixed on something else - his battle with Luhan.
"What's keeping you, Baozi?" Luhan tries to taunt him, as much as he hates it, from the opposite side of the court.
Minseok calmly shakes his head to forget about all those things bothering him. The last thing he wants to happen is to really go all out with Luhan and be taunted from his actions. He doesn't hate Luhan from what he's done, no. Minseok feels apologetic because he doesn't want Luhan to leave, and yet he brought this upon himself and so he has to suffer the consequences.
"I'm ready," he softly replies. Nothing else was heard from then on except the clashing of adamantine swords and shields against each other. They were almost equal in terms of strength, and Minseok didn't even expect that from someone like Luhan. His seemingly weak body, petite frame and thin arms wouldn't expect such a strength like that to come out from them. Minseok clearly has his work cut out for him perfectly.
"I see you've had some training," Minseok strenously tries to interject, while their swords are perfectly balancing each other's attempts to attack each weak point that was being targeted. Minseok was a master of weak points, and with a body like Luhan's, he could spot them from afar. But Luhan seemed quicker and it looks as if he already knew what Minseok was originally after.
"I guess you can call it that way," Luhan replies calmly, as if brushing away some lint off his clothes. It seemed pretty easy for him to be facing Minseok in battle, when clearly everyone knows that facing Minseok in battle was not easy, and you'd be a fool to actually test him in combat.
But Luhan didn't care, he isn't a fool and he was going to prove that.
