So I had my bio midterm today. Fun stuff right there. That was followed up by a pointless day of speech class and the final day of career planning where we got a spiffy jwu 'padfolio' lol. Im glad that the stress of the midterm is over with, but so much other stuff I still have to do this month. More speechs to prepare, and of course the much dreaded Nov. 1st co-op deadline. Which includes making a portfolio, touching up my resume, WRITING A FREAKING ESSAY, and of course finding places to actually do it at.
No freaking clue where to do it right now. It has to be within driveable distance of school since Im staying here, but there really isnt much that is under an hour away.. and I really dont want to have to drive an hour plus back and forth to work everyday. The closest places are in Newport, which is a good 50 minutes away, and some places in MA. Avoiding Boston because of the stupid amounts of traffic between the two cities. So right now Im really at a loss of where to go. I kind of wanted to work somewhere like the Biltmore or some other hotel in Providence so its close and whatnot. There was a thing for the Westin but theyre not on last years spring availability sheet thing. So maybe Ill go in and ask about it or something. I dunno.
Have plans right now to hopefully drive down to Atlantic City next weekend with a couple people to go see a food network taping of a challenge thing and some other thing that one of the BPA chefs here is in for like 10$. I really want to do it but Im not sure if Im getting the days off or not.. I asked for them but who knows.. We're planning on driving down (its like 5.5 hours) and getting a hotel for maybe Friday night and definitely Saturday night since it starts at like 11am on Saturday. Found a hotel, 2 double beds, for 70$ a night, split between like 3-5 of us. Greyhound is just out of the question with how damn expensive it is.. also have a concert the Monday after that in Boston that me and ash are going to. Mass transportation confuses me so hopefully we should be able to make there without problems. Still have to ask my sister if we can crash on her floor Monday night and get a train back Tuesday morning (and may or may not miss class).. but again, who knows how thatll go.
So I also started my part-time job at Panera in East Greenwich.. its not that bad, its alot of info to take in since they train you on everything before you actually start working, but eh. Been trained on the dining room, barista, and tomorrow I start cashier. Fun. The pay isnt the greatest, like 7.50 or something, but it works, since I also have my workstudy on top of that. So basically that translates to a full time job on top of being a full time student. 40 hours a week + classes = oof. but i really need the money so I can deal.
Starting my community service on Monday, lasts for four Mondays, 2 hrs a piece, but its at an elementary school helping kids with homework and such. I think I am going to go crazy :( but its required if I want my degree..
Moving in next trimester with Dan and his roomate from last year/that guys girlfriend. So Thanksgiving break = moving-in time. (Thats when he comes back to RI after being away since the end of the summer) :( But yeah, getting out of this place and moving into my first apartment with my love and another couple :) Its small but it works since its cheap-ish (900 rent a month, split between 4 people + another roomate to fill the third room.. = 225 a month for now + utilities) and its only like a 15 minute walk from campus (=2 min drive) Havent gotten word back from ResLife as to whether or not I will be released from my housing contract for next tri, but either way Im leaving so mleh to them.. They (the other couple) are already moved in, and I had the option of moving in now as well, but Im waiting until he comes back (or rather, right before). Oh! And they also got a kitten :D Im so excited to see the little guy and play with him all day lol. Bringing my fishies and birdy too :)
Got my schedule for next tri too. Unfortunately I got stuck with afternoon labs, which means that Ill have to work in the morning.. AND of course its the opposite lab schedule as Dan once again :( but I guess I can deal. Have one academic Im taking along with labs since I didnt take it this trimester, so those days I really wont be able to work, but probably workstudy instead. But nevertheless I am still excited for labs to come. I hate academics. Plus hellooo chocolate + cakes = yay. Have 'Chocolate/Sugar Artistry/Showpieces' followed by 'Advanced Cake Decorating & Clasical French Tortes'. Both sound fun-ish and you dont have to have a final notebook in chocolate :)
Yeah so Im also totally sick again. Not as bad as before, but Im hacking up lungs every few minutes so Im going to the school doctor tomorrow morning before class to see what might be up since I was sick not too long ago for like two weeks straight. My immune system just plain sucks. I wish you could have like antibody/white blood cell injections or hook you up to an IV or something.. heh. It also pisses me off because I wanted to get another piercing this week but I dont want to if Im sick, since it might like take longer to get better (the cold) because of the cells focusing their healing-ness elsewhere. Ugh.
Also waiting for several packages in the mail :) bought some stuff including a new bra :D and my mom bought me a fleece because it is FREEZING here and that isnt helping me being sick so that should be coming in soon-ish. Those things on top of my peacoat shes sending to me.. definitely need that thing.. Oh, and if anyone actually reads my journal, dont EVER buy textbooks off of half.com. My 50$ bio book never came and nothing seems to be being done about it. and so I had to buy the new one from the bookstore for 140$ on top of paying for the online book. WTF. There goes that money out the freaking window..
So theres an update on my life this month thusfar. Time for bed!
