A Crazy 2 Weeks

Mar 02, 2003 18:16

Woah!!! I've REALLY got a hectic 2 weeks ahead!

I didn't realise how bad it was, until I txted Jenny saying I've got a crazy 2 weeks ahead. And she asked what I was doing.
So I started to reply; I thought it was just a coupla things. But then I kept remembering more and more and... GNARGH!

For anyone who's interested, here's my schedule.

Monday: Physics Olympiad Round 3
I have done absolutely no preparation for it and I'm not gonna get anywhere cos I only got through the last round by choosing to do the mathematical questions. This time, we don't get a choice of question! I think I should have given my place up to erica_freak...

Tuesday: Hans Woyda Maths Competition Plate Final
This isn't really important, but it is time-consuming. Especially when it's held in Dulwich College!!
We have absolutely no chance of winning; we're against Westminster. In one of their first-round matches, out of a possible 69 points, they scored 66. The best we've done in 7 years is when we got a huge score of 51!!
(Although this is also the first time in 7 years we've got through to any sort of final.)

Wednesday: Teaching little kids badminton
After school, we go and play badminton with the yr 7-9s in our school. We're meant to teach them how it's done. However, I'm not a teacher. No good at it. So I get Emily to tell them how they're meant to be playing, and she ends up telling ME that I'm doing it all wrong!
It's not a major event, but it does mean I get home at about 7.30, and am very tired, so it basically takes up the whole evening. And also, in conjunction with everything else, it means I have no free time!!

Thursday: Debate -- "This House Loathes London"
Hmm... This one's only a lunchtime, but I have to find some time to do a bit of preparation for it!! And it's meant to be a funny debate! I'm just not funny enough! At least I'm free in the evening, which should give me some (though nowhere near enough) time to prepare for...

Friday to Sunday: Model United Nations
For anyone who doesn't know, this is where we have to represent a delegation from a particular country, and debate resolutions on things ranging from war on Iraq to discrimination against homosexuals to the state of turnip farming in Eastern Singapore.
But it's not just debating. It's a great weekend. Several hundred students staying in Bath for 2 nights...

Monday: Debating Friendly
Hoping to set one up as practice for Saturday.

Tuesday: Hmm...
Now there's definitely something I was meant to be doing, but I can't remember!!
Hopefully I'll remember by then.

Wednesday: Badminton
The last practice session we have before Friday.

Thursday: Computing Olympiad (BIO)
Basically a programming competition. So in the 2 preceding weeks I have to learn a programming language properly.
I've started learning C. I'm 7 days into a 21 day course.
Hmm....
Maybe it's not such a bad thing if I fail this and the Physics though. The top 20 people get to do lots and lots more work!!

Friday: Badminton Match
Not sure who it's against. But I'm in it. Finally. Partnering Vic in mixed doubles. So if she decides she's gonna forget her trainers again...

Saturday: Oxford Union Debating Final
This will be fun. We got no real chance of getting anywhere. I'm actually very surprised we got this far, considering our performance on Thursday, but that's another story... But there should be at least a few people I know there.
I wonder if it'll be anything like the MUN. I doubt it somehow!

And during this period, I have to do 5 Physics courseworks, school work (e.g. catching up with 3 politics essays), not to mention the programming and MUN preparation and so on. Plus I have such a HUGE backlog of emails to reply to!! From Novemberish...

So why am I sitting here writing this? Cos my Phys coursework's gotten too depressing... But back to it I must go!
And if anyone sees me on MSN, tell me to go do some work!!

Hmm there doesn't seem to be a mood for "shitting myself in anticipation of failing to survive the next fortnight"...
