I nod, sure that sorry is as insignificant a word as possible in this situation. I doubt she'd want my sympathy for her mom anyway. If she ever finds out what I am, it'll probably seem like a bunch of shit anyway.
"I will," I tell her enjoying the simplicity of her smile. It's been a long time since I tried just enjoying being in another human's company. Wes and Cordy were kind of forced on me, since neither of them was about to go away, but I'm not one for seeking out the social gatherings as anyone will tell you, so this is a little bit of a surprise.
She really is adorable when she blushes though. I grin when she mentions my least favorite song. Sure, it's got a beat, and it's you know...strong, but really I've survived more without an anthem, thankyouverymuch.
"My pleasure," I say, "I know what's out here, I like to help when I can," I say a little cryptically. "And I enjoyed the company." Jesus, that's got to be like more words out of my mouth in one night than in the last month. "You ever need another escort, you just let me know." Those ridiculous words have a lightbulb popping on in my head. I fish through my pockets trying to find what I'm looking for. I'm pretty sure I never carry them anymore, but they always turn up randomly, and the number's still good. Sometimes, I think Cordy's still got a supply of our Angel Investigations cards and sticks them in my coat pockets now and then.
"Here, take one of my cards. If you ever need anything. And you can always call if Lorne ends up being a horrible boss," I say with a teasing grin. She'll be fine with Lorne. I don't know him that well, but Wes does, and I trust Wes. "Have a nice night, Tara," I say stopping to let her go on ahead. I don't want her to think I'm stalking her. Yeah, no stalking.
Angel's words are a bit sketchy, maybe even a bit cryptic and I leave it be. He doesn't owe me anything and it's not my place to call him on it, we're not friends or anything.
I watch him fumble around for something and I tilt my head to the side, curious what he was doing and wondering if I should get nervous at all. There was a look in his eyes that made me second guess that thought. I smile kindly when he says he would escourt me again if I needed it. "Good to h-have the offer." That was lame, Tara.
Taking his card I smile and nod. "I'm s-sure I'll be okay." The temptation to tell him if he needed any spell help that I'd offer, but like always I bite my tongue on that. "Goodnight Angel, t-thank you for walking me." I smile and tuck his card into my pocket. "It was..." Sweet. "Nice of you." Brushing my hair from my face I look back at him before fishing out my apartment keys and finding my way up to the doorstep.
