Uhm... horsey rant?

Because what else do I post here?

Mmkay, so last weekend figured some stuff out for me as far as where certain racehorses stand against each other. Pyro's status as subject of my fangirliness was lifted ever higher by the events of Saturday, and not only because of his dominant three-length score against the deepest Derby prep field yet. Nope... what also really caught my eye was the game photo-finish win by Visionaire in the fog and slop that was the Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct. You may recall that he was third to Pyro and Z Fortune in the Risen Star... and Z Fortune's return to the track is this Saturday, so I'll be even happier about Pyro's chances if he takes the Rebel Stakes. Considering he was undefeated until he met Pyro, the chances are high.

As far as War Pass... well, he'll win this weekend unless Hell freezes over and pigs fly. In Hell. While polka-dotted daisies play Pachelbel's Canon on flugal horns, accompanied by the flying pigs singing a counter tenor rendition of Carmen. Also in Hell.

I can't wait until he meets some proper competition in the Wood Memorial and, yes, eventually Pyro in the Derby. This will be fun.

Anyways, I thought I'd update my top ten list. Because I can.

1. Pyro                  (w00t RISEN STAR PWNAGE -- also Louisiana Derby =D)
2. War Pass          (Yeah, all right, no competition so far...)
3. Court Vision       (Toss out the third in the Fountain of Youth. He had no shot and the next-best closer was sixth)
4. War Pass          (Okay, I admit it. He's good.)
5. Elysium Fields   (Fountain of Youth runner-up was nothing if not impressive, particularly from outside post)
6. Visionaire          (Moves back up after winning the Gotham)
7. Denis of Cork     (Undefeated... Southwest=beautiful... all things being equal, he could be a nice one)
8. Z Fortune          (Could zip way up the list with an impressive win in the Rebel)
9. El Gato Malo     (I put him above Colonel John for now... but I like them both)
10. Colonel John    (I personally cannot wait for the Santa Anita Derby rematch between him and the bad cat)

Others I like: Georgie Boy, Blackberry Road, Texas Wildcatter, Yankee Bravo
Big disappointments: Majestic Warrior (flattened out really badly in the Louisiana Derby after looking like he might get some of the money... maybe he'll move back up, but after waiting so long for his '08 debut, I don't think it's happening before the Kentucky Derby.)

IN OTHER NEWS, school sucks. That is all.

war pass, horse, thoroughbred, school, racing, pyro, kentucky derby
