My 23rd Birthday!

Dec 03, 2010 03:57

Yesterday (well, it's technically after midnight, so wednesday) was my 23rd birthday.

It started off by going out to lunch with Nick. We chatted, laughed, and had a very good meal... Then, right at the end, he mentioned he missed me (and missed being with me), and I got depressed. So he drove me back to my place, and before I got out of the car I cried on his shoulder a bit, took his hand into mine and told him I loved him. He replied "I know... I'm sorry." Seeing as I was emotional, I got out of the car and slammed the door as I left. I kinda feel bad about that, especially since we haven't spoken since.

That put me into a funk, and I cried some more once I was back inside. That was when my mind wandered to when he proposed to me (5 years ago ON my birthday...). It was hard, I'm not going to lie.

I needed something to pick me up, so I called home and spoke to the parentals and made plans to go over there. Mom picked me up, then Steph and Krystal, and we all went back to the parentals house, where I opened my presents (a red Wii [to match my bedroom!] from the parents and a iPod Nano [with a touch screen!] from Steph and Krystal - among other small gifts [like chocolate and clothing!]), had a wonderful dinner, and got my favourite cake ever - ICECREAM CAKE. =D

Spending time with my family definitely made me put the morning I had behind me. It was exactly what I needed - to be with people who loved me unconditionally, who will always have my back and be there for me whenever I need them...

When I checked my email, I got a notice that I had won two tickets to the opening night of the LGBT film festival, and that Rya (roommate) had won the other two tickets they were giving away! So she took Jade (her girlfriend), and I took Janine (Jade's roommmate) [All four of us entered, and we had agreed that if two of the four won, we'd take the other two =P].

So that's what I did tonight (yesterday?) - went to the opening night gala of a period piece based on the life of Anne Lister (a lesbian, before lesbians were cool). The movie was fantastic, and incredibly well done - I was thorougly impressed.

We were invited to the afterparty, so we went and were given free wine and champagne (huzzah!), and once everyone was plesantly tipsy, they put on the dance music. None of us expected to end up at a dance party, but none of us were arguing, and we ended up dancing for hooouuurs. I think the FB status update I made (via text message) while taking a breather from dancing summed it up rather nicely:

"Dear self: Remember this moment. Don't let this feeling go."

It was an absolutely perfect evening. =)

And! Tomorrow a bunch of my lady friends and I are hitting up the local gay bar for Dyke Night and we're gonna dance til the wee hours (again!). I'm so excited! I'm going to be seeing friends I haven't seen in aaages, so I'm really looking forward to it. =3

Oh, and the icing on the (birthday icecream) cake? I came home and noticed I had a reply from Steven (from the email I sent him a little while ago, which I believe I mentioned in a previous entry). He said some incredibly sweet things, and was apparently very happy to hear from me. He even said that he'll be calling me tomorrow (today?) to make plans to see me, which I'm strangely nervous about...

Anyways, I just had to update while I was feeling like this... It's not often I think about updating my LJ while I'm in such a euphoric mood... It had to be recorded somewhere. =)
