We had our first appointment today, and everything is All Correct and Accounted For. Quite routine, and healthy.

So I'm, emotionally, torn between "Oh, yawn, everything's fine, nothing's different," and "OMGOMGOMG there is a HEARTBEAT and I *hearded it* myself with my *ears* and SQUEEEEEEEEEfaint."

It's kind of exhausting. :->

My uterus is "just the right size for 11 weeks," which is kind of funny 'cause I was counting it as 9, but I was counting from 'estimated conception' and apparently docs count from 'last period you had,' which strikes me as odd, because it means the baby's due date (which is STILL 40 weeks from Start Day, not 42) would aim it for 2 weeks preemie? Or something. Sigh. Whatever. I'll obey my duly-tendered medical advice.

If my due date is really Valentine's Day instead of Feb 28 2009, though, we're going to have a hard time complying with my mother's (half-facetious) edict that No Aquarians Are Allowed in our family. :->

I have a handful of pregnancy-vitamin samples to take instead of Centrum (and a scrip to fill for more of them). I've been comparing the ingredients with what I was already taking, and there's a lot less in the preggers pills ... though of a very few nutrients, the concentration is higher. And there's Omega-3s and such in them, which is nice. I'm mildly worried about completely skipping all the stuff Centrum has that these don't, though, and wondering whether, since they're structured as an 'AM' pill and a 'PM' pill, I mightn't keep taking it with lunch in between? There's no overlap in nutrients I know to be 'no, seriously, don't take too much of these' ones, like Vitamin A (the preg pills have none).

For those still wondering, the title of this entry is an attempt at onomatopoeia for the sound of the heartbeat of my little firstling ... even imitating it makes me get bubbly-excited, and I kept doing it at John on the train on our way back. It's earwormed me.
