I've finally finished the last book in the Kushiel series. Such a wonderful book. Sometimes I think about the times I tried to kill myself, and I just can't understand it. How could I have thought of it when there are such delicious books to read. As I recall, I didn't die because of a pair of brown boots I was fond of, and the way a particular field by my parent's house looked in the afternoon sun. If only I had these books then.

My long awaited sandals finally dropped in price enough to buy. What a fortunate day. I got Arian some new shorts and pants. He is so hard on clothes. I began to notice that he was looking more and more like one of those life long manual laborers; the sort that never come clean no matter how many times they wash their hands. So for the last month or two I've been buying him some clothes with every paycheck. Even if his hands are a mess, he looks very dashing in clean pants. I also bought some very amusing panties with butt-ruffles. I am sure I will work them into something for the new comic.

I also got my sister some birthday presents. She is very demanding about birthdays and holidays. I would like to impress her this year.

Last night I went to a very good asian restaurant. I am definitely taking Marie there next time she comes to dinner. I even thought of her at the restaurant, and missed her presence a great deal. Arian and I waited at our table for food to come, and we were so tortured by the food on other peoples plates. Every table had some dish that smelled so amazing. In every corner there was something you wanted to savor on your tongue. A lady near us in a white pearl shirt wasn't eating her meal. We tried not to stare at her, but we couldn't help it. Some time later we both admitted to fantasizing about ripping the plate away from her and gorging ourselves on her dinner. Had our appetizer taken any longer to arrive, I have no doubt Arian might have clobbered her and eaten her meal. I got the red curry, which was excellent. Arian got the General Tso's Chicken. It was the best Gen Tso I've ever tasted. What a restaurant! High ceilings, quality black wood tables, elegant chairs. If only it wasn't so expensive.

I got to talk to Jen for awhile today, which was nice. Even when we don't have much time to talk to each other, I have no doubts that she and I will be friends for a very long time.
