So this weekend was my baby shower in Detroit. Of course, as I predicted the weather was not kind to me, it was snowy and blowy about half the way there and then part of the way back as well. Luckily, we did make it home in one piece, though we did almost die once, this guy drove straight into my lane and missed the front end of my car by about an inch.
It was a very stressful day, it always is because I am not used to big crowds and his family is not small by any means. It is nice to see people, but its hard when you don't know everyone and feel totally out of the loop. I did manage to get in some mingling before the shower though.
Everything seemed to go smoothly for the most part, minus a couple small things that didn't... but thats to be predicted right? While we were opening gifts I had my second really bad dizzy spell, with water, food and cold washcloths I was able to get through that, but had to lay on the ground afterwards for a while to get myself back to normal. :-/ Thats twice now, I am really concerned that I am going to end up on a really restricted diet and bedrest if these don't stop, that would make for a really long 9-10 weeks!
We did very well in regards to gifts, everyone was very generous. We do have some things that were duplicates to return. And in one case, the highchair, we got one but need a smaller one for space reasons so we have to wait til the one we registered for is brought back to the store - it is currently "recalled" for a very stupid problem! So, in a month or two we will go pick that up. The nursery is set up, we have the changer, crib, mattress, bedding, changing pad, lamp, hamper, diaper disposal pail etc. Of course, we have to do tons of laundry to get everything washed and ready.
I can't even begin to list everything we did get, but in summary: our travel system, swing, bouncer, travel swing, travel crib, highchair, washcloths/towels, clothes, some diapers, baby monitor, breast pump, blankets (both homemade and store bought), some money/gift cards (thats all spent - see below), bathtub, baby sling, and gosh knows what else.
On Sunday when we got back my mom, sister, Tommy and I went to Babies R Us to pick up some things that we needed and we got the finishing touches: a mattress, changer and cover, travel crib sheet, an awesome mobile (see below), a snow suit for next year (I know, early... but it was a great deal!), a swimsuit for baby, a mirror for the car so we can see baby, diaper bags, an ear thermometer, diaper pail, some other small items, and my sister bought a couple more clothing items and some onesies seeing as how we didn't get any plain ones at the shower.
Now, onto this mobile - we have two different crib sets for baby, one is noahs ark and the other is more feminine. The noah's ark one has a specific mobile you could buy but there isn't one for the girly set. So, we were stuck on what to do. So instead of having a matching mobile we got this awesome awesome one made by Tiny Love - its called Symphony in Motion. It is super funky in colors and rotates much different than typical mobiles. It has 4 different types of motion that go on when it moves. Its awesome, I am on Tommy's laptop so I can't do much as far as inserting pictures (he doesn't use windows). But here is a link

Tommy and I are buying a house!!!
This has been in the works for a couple weeks, we decided we for sure were going to do this about 3 weeks ago, since then I have been working my tail off trying to get that all figured out. We signed a purchase agreement this past Monday - we are having a home built for us because we found a floor plan we liked that was not technically available right now. So we found a nice subdivision that is in a nice school district. We will be most likely closing on the home in June or July. I will make a bigger post about that later today, just not feeling up to it right this moment... very tired!
