This evening we had a really nice backyard party for all of our new neighbors (four families have moved in within the last month). I have a HUGE pile of dishes to do and when I reached for my iPod to keep me company I discovered it is frozen. I will have to wait until tomorrow to dig out my portable hard drive so that I can make backups of music and such. Then I will have to try to reboot the machine. It is only two years old, and while I have fantasies of replacing it, the reality is that I really don't want to.
And just how am I supposed to do the dishes?
The party was lovely, though. 13 adults, 9 kids. Lots of bratwurst, beer, and burgers. Cake, brownies, and
mochi for dessert. We were hoping that our neighbors would be good, but we ad no idea that we would get so lucky. We live in row houses (like town houses but bigger), and five of the eight houses have been empty for nearly a year. There is only one empty house now, and everyone has their fingers crossed for it to be filled by a family with a teenager who wants babysitting money. Last month Targetcat was the only child. He is now one of four kids his age, and all of the new families have two children. He is so happy!
Ah well. No more putting it off. The dishes are everywhere, and need to be done before I head to bed.
