Tonight I made penne and shrimp in a red sauce.  It was fine, but needed some extra spice.  Out came the big bag of chili pepper, into the pot and....

Onto the burner.

In case there is any doubt, this is not an experiment that I suggest you attempt.  Within moments we were choking and sputtering as the pepper was released into the air.

I turned on every fan we have, and have had the air conditioner running for the past few hours.  Still, when a neighbor child stopped by for a moment she began to cough and asked what had happened.  My throat is still raw, and I expect to have to run the fans all day tomorrow as well.
