Max was waitlist by MIT. (i think he's the perfect candidate though...)
max told me not to do this but i kept going over and over my application and interview and what may have gone wrong. obviously i'm crushed. my interview really couldnt have been any better. my interviewer seemed genuinely interested in what i had to say for the 50 minutes or so that it lasted. My GPA is a 3.3 and the Smith avg GPA is a 3.8 so i'm not too far from the norm. My list of extra-curriculars, volunteer work, and work work are....for a lack of a better word..."awesome". My SATs were a 1300 and the Smith avgs are at 1260 (though i hear they dont give a damn about SATs). My essay was the most brutally honest and moving thing i've ever written about myself. and it makes me weep... a little. i know they are need-blind but i heard in some Smith prospective student community on LJ that they actually are "need concious" and that they try to accept as many kids as they can that are able to afford the school. this idea makes me beyond depressed cause my parents dont have that kind of money to pay for Smith. (its about $38,000 including room and board) My EFC was like...3,000. So maybe if i rack up a shitload of scholarships i can write them and maybe they'll accept me? i'm really hoping that rumor about smith is completely false. cause it would really break my little back-surfing asian heart.
P.S. We won 2 awesome awards at the NY Regional for Robotics today!
