alright so here it comes...
my two big summer plans are completed. the first being ostaff and the second being camp. ostaff was a good work experience...and that is that. camp, however, was much more than just a volunteer experience. it was a life experience...
the people i met, both kids and counselors, were so awesome. everyone is so kind, encouraging, happy, and we were all just kids for a week. our adult life was nonexistent for that week. i had no outside contact w/ anyone, and to be honest, it was nice. i was in a happy bubble for 10 days where the rest of the world did not matter cause everything was so happy and loving where i was at. and i, along w/ some others, wanted to stay longer. heck, i wish i was still there! it was kind of hard coming back for the first few days cause you just think about a lot of things. you think about the people you met and how amazing they really were. you think about how that compares to people in your life right now cause now you've seen such good in people that you want to continue that love in everyone else you know. but it is almost like you can only share these thoughts and experiences w/ others who have gone through this experience.
on monday i went back to sb for a night just so i can share some more moments together w/ some other counselors. my friend from camp (who goes to ucsb as well) was having a bbq and some guys from camp were comin from la to be there, so i had to go too cause i do not know when ill see them again. and it was fun!
so basically, camp was amazing, and it is definitely the highlight of my summer. i was comparing the people i met there and ostaff...and at camp it took a week and i felt i had bonded so well w/ fellow counselors, and a summer was not even long enough for me to bond w/ some fellow ostaffers. but that is just the way it goes sometimes.
anyway, i am headin back to sb this weekend for good. i am excited to live w/ all my housemates...i think it will be such a fun year! i am comin back to recsports when i get back, which is my fave place to work at so i am excited about that! sooo in a few days i will start getting back to my regular routine ...which will be nice cause i feel like it has been forever.
