Bobby's blog led me to betterthanyourboyfriend.com, which is a pretty interesting site. Reading through it, I read about the guy's attempt to escape his 'computer addiction,' which I realized I also have. I spend far too much time on the computer, telling myself I'm getting something done without making any progress in anything. I'm going to try to take a computer break, as the web site man did. It's become my default activity. I've had a book out from the library for three weeks and only gotten to page 200. Terrible things.
Any writing can be done by hand first, anyway, so typing will be like a second draft. The only thing I've completed recently was a flash fiction piece for a web site. Flash fiction is a fun game, allowing you to play around with a concept and see how it works.
Yeah, so, very little computer for me. My short-term goals are sell all my stuff on ebay, save as much money as possible, become self-sufficient. Never live in this house again. I made a little breakthrough on my detective story, realizing I'd kind of conceived it from the middle and didn't have an interesting way to get there from the beginning, but now there's a funny little sequence that helps bridge the parts. I've got another flash open in another window right now that I like much more than the first one.
Also, I cannot write anything on Livejournal without rambling (and subsequently refusing to delete the stupid bits). So, hopefully, little to no computer for me in the next few days. Cell phone is on.
