The thing is, there are female characters that I love and het couples that I ship, but I usually don't

Nick/Cassie! Zoe/Wash! Amy/Rory! I also throw in John/Aeryn(Farscape), Charlie/Claire(Lost), Peter/Olivia(Fringe), and The Monarch/Dr. Mrs The Monarch(Venture Bros).

I still actually flail whenever anyone mentions Amy/Rory. Like, with the happy noises and the hands and everything. That's how happy they make me. I can't get over it.

Also, I need to watch Buffy already.

I love Amy and Rory soooooo much. I think I'm starting to annoy my husband with it. :D

If you do start watching Buffy, I will be happy to squeal at you about it without pressuring you to love everything.

I love that you've compiled this list, largely because it gives my self-involved side an outlet to think about my het ships (which, I'll admit, are kind of few--I'm pretty picky about them, too.)

I am so much pickier about my het ships than my slash ones! But I'm also pretty loyal. I've been shipping some of the couples on this list since way before I knew what fandom was.

I love a lot of Tamora Pierce's heroines, but Alanna is always going to be special to me.

I have serious issues with most het pairings, mostly because I can never really stop being irritated over the whole heternormativity thingy (my ability to use all those fancy English words I know I know seem to be at an all-time-low right now, sorry :-) The only ones I can think of are three I got hooked on when I was in my teens or early twenties and it's probably significant that two of those are AUs and one is from the 1930s: Leila/Han, Eowyn/Faramir (the book, not the films), and Harriet Vane/Lord Peter Wimsey

*nods* I get that. And I do love Lord Peter Wimsy and Harriet Vane. :D Harriet was pretty amazing, especially considering when she was written.
