Tess followed the directions given to her and parked in a multi-story car park. “Now where?” she said aloud following the directions by text. She had an interview at ten o’clock, it was five to, just then she saw a building that was very familiar to her. “Oh no” she said aloud. Tess slowed her pace as she headed towards the tv studios that she knew very well, it was where Lou worked.
Tess lowered her head and accidentally walked in to someone. “Shit, sorry” Tess said picking up the person’s dropped purse. “It’s okay” Tess heard a woman say, the accent was American or Canadian, she wasn’t sure, however her eyes met a person that she knew, well from the tv. “Hi I’m Tess” she said handing the woman her purse, “ Pleased to meet you Tess I’m Karly Haverman” the woman said. “Wow, umm I mean great” Tess mumbled.
Tess loved Karly, from her film “Days I live”, to 206 3d, to her bit part on The Love Word. “So Karly” Tess began to say, “Why are you here?”. Karly smiled “I have an interview with Lou Foster about my new film”.
“Great” Tess said her eyes saddening, Karly reached over, “Are you okay?” she asked concerned. “Yes fine” Tess said lying. “Tell you what Tess, take me to a fabulous gay bar and get me a drink of something British and tell me your woes”. Tess nodded, she didn’t care if she would be late for her interview, she had other things to worry about and a new friend in the form of a wonderful actress.
As they sat down at the bar, women flocked to Karly, after signing many autographs she resumed drinking with Tess. “So tell me what’s the problem?” Karly asked politely. “Just, well I can tell you I guess, I mean your gay and an actress and you know about confidentiality”. Karly nodded, she was now intrigued. Tess babbled for a minute then began to confess her secret affair with Lou, Karly was dumbstruck. “Okay” she said after Tess had told her the whole story, “So you like this Lou, and she likes you, but she’s with a guy” Karly said confused, “Yep a guy who is married and she clearly doesn’t love, she’s only with him so she doesn’t have to come out of the closet”. Tess said ordering another drink.
“Tess I have a fabulous idea, I need notoriety to promote my film, you want Lou back, how about we become a ‘couple’, only for media purposes but that way you find out how Lou feels about you and I can get some coverage before my premier, what do you say?” Karly asked hopefully, “I love it” Tess said and they clinked their glasses together to cement their new friendship and talked about their plan.
