It's been a while since I had a happy post.
Dave and I went on holiday (I would say vacation but I think holiday sounds better :-) ) in NH to a place called Nestlenook Farms. It was flippin' sweet. They have about 62-64 acres of land (mostly woods), lights to decorate the inn, suites, ice rink, trees outside the main room and their reception hall (it's for weddings, they even have a mini chapel). They also have wild deer and 1800 lb work horses for sleigh rides. First night up we went out for Chinese food in Conway and watched TV. You might think that since we're in a different city on our own that we'd want to go out and do stuff, but honestly this suite that Dave got was so amazing we didn't want to leave...That and this is NH; everything closes around 9 pm (lol, sorry Karen but it's true). Now about the room...Get this: 3 plasma TVs, one normal 24" TV, Master bedroom to ourselves (one of the plasma TVs was in there, idk how big but it was huge), a jacuzzi, massive lounge, two fire places, a kitchenette, and a porch. We hopped in the jacuzzi and watched TV till we fell asleep.
The next day we went window shopping in Conway. This is critical to the entry because I was basically raised in Conway. Whenever my parents wanted to go on a holiday we'd go there or whenever they wanted to go visit their friends in NH we'd stop in. We'd do that frequently when I was a kid...at least 5 times in the winter and a few times in the summer so you can safely assume that I know the main bit of Conway like the back of my hand. Since Dave and I started getting serious I can remember wanting him to come with me there because I loved going to Conway as a kid and I really wanted to share that with him. Therefore you can imagine that it was fantastic to walk up and down the streets eating liquorish and orange slices from Zeb's (a home made, old fashioned food store that sells amazing candy), eating lunch at Flatbread (which I'm convinced has the BEST PIZZA EVER), walking into the Met and getting a cup of coffee while looking at the local art they have for sale, etc.
We get back from Conway and we go ice skating. Dave's a bit of a natural but I'm not...I didn't let go of him at all because I was so unstable on my feet. He's pushing me around from behind, making me skate to him, and generally scaring the hell out of me because I don't want to fall. After about 15 times of yelling "David! Stop it! I hate you!" he got me a traffic cone (the big orange things used on the side of the road during construction) and I used that to support myself. Yeah I know...I looked like the special kid but whatever I didn't fall. We got off of that and went back to the room to wait for our sleigh ride. The sleigh ride took us all around the premises of the Inn. It was such a clear night and it's been forever since I've seen that many stars. The sleigh was heated with fur blankets so that added to the comfort. Towards the end though we got to feed deer! They were so cute! Just as cute as the giant work horses (especially the one who was trying to get out of his pen that I nicknamed Trojan because he looked like the Trojan Horse). After that we went back to our room and watched TV till we fell asleep.
It was really sad to leave the next day, but I loved that for those two days I was with a sweet, crazy man who brought me breakfast in bed everyday with coffee that was made just right.
