So I go to take my son 4-year-old son to school today. (He's in Pre-K at a Catholic private school) Well anyway, my son was wearing a new shirt. Of course he knew it so he was all cheesy and excited- just doing as 4-year-olds do. So I always walk him to the coat closet and do some small talk with him before we part. The teacher walks up and says 'hello'. Then my son takes his coat off and proceeds to tell the teacher that he has on a new shirt and asked if she liked it. Why did that heifer smack her lips and put on this tight smile and says, 'Yes. I always like your new clothes. It's as if you have a new something almost every week."
Well of course that went over my son's head but definitely not mine. So I told the teacher, "He's a growing child. Besides, we're not breaking the bank or teaching him to worship material items. I simply find myself replacing items that get ruined with markers or paints from class that do not wash out, etc." Why did I dignify her remark with a response? Why did I explain why my son had on a very affordable graphic t-shirt from Target which she was treating as if it was purchased from a high-end department store. More importantly, why is she so aware of my child's wardrobe?
Is it me or what? I do admit that I am not a morning person but I swear that this is not the first time she has made some remark. However, this is the first time that it bothered me to the point that I felt it necessary to respond.
Help.
