I sure hope you aren't talking about the Bible, Matt. But if you are...
Now I'm running away. Don't let the hound smell my fear on my breath.
What's to fear? If God is for us, nothing can stand against us. I don't remember what Scripture the song is based on, but the Christian rock band Petra has one that comes to mind -- "The Battle Belongs To The Lord" (from their 1989 project Petra Praise: The Rock Cries Out).
The Battle Belongs to the Lord Words and music by Jamie Owens-Collins
In heavenly armour we'll enter the land The battle belongs to the Lord No weapon that's fashioned against us shall stand The battle belongs to the Lord
We sing glory and honor Power and strength to the Lord (repeat)
The power of darkness comes in like a flood The battle belongs to the Lord He's raised up a standard, the power of His blood The battle belongs to the Lord
When your enemy presses in hard do not fear The battle belongs to the Lord Take courage my friend, your redemption is near The battle belongs to the Lord
Oh God, help me find the river to pray. Help me get rid of this stench.
Not sure what odor you're talking about there...
Am I even sure if I believe enough to die for this?
My question is...do you? "To live is Christ, and to die is gain," as Paul said. (Philippians 1:21, NIV)
I can see the flames above and below and it smells of death.
Flames above?? *confused*
Do I want to die for this?
I'm going to paraphrase this, but it's something I heard recently from Todd Keene, president of The Power Team: Everyone will live eternally, in one of two places. Where will u be?
I wouldn't read too deeply into it. I would read Farenheit 451. It's a great book and it's sparked my creativity.
I am talking about The Bible because in the book, it's about how if anyone is found with ANY book, firefighters find the house and burn the house and at times, burn the people that own the books. Which in the main characters case, the "cliffhanger" of the book, he has The Bible in his hands, running away from the "mechanical hound" that would find him and then killing him.
I think anyone that knows me would know that I'm not questioning my own faith. I'm just merely inspired by the book.
