Dedications: The Maine! Because they helped me with the inspiration for this story! Into Your Arms ftw<3 And photobucket for all of the cute quotes that will probably pop up at some point in this story.
Author's Notes: I am. So sorry. Basically, shit hit the fan in everyway imaginable. xD Not so into this chapter? But I'm excited for the next one. I wrote this thing three times. That might be why I don't like it. Once in a notebook, once on my ipod, once on my computer. x.x
Jack watched Alex run out of the office in shocked silence. He was frozen in place until he was completely sure Alex was gone. Then he let out a groan, low and long, as he crossed back to the chair and slumped into it.
"such an idiot," he muttered, pressing the heels of his hands into his eyesockets as far as he could.
How could he have been so stupid, yet again? What was he so afraid of? It wasn't like Alex was going to get pregnant and run off. Well, if that happened, Jack would probably end up being the one running. Because Alex was definitely a man, Jack could definitely back that statement up.
Was that why he was so cautious? Because the fact that he and Alex were both male certainly had not stopped him last night. No, that wasn't it. Jack didn't care about that at all. He wanted Alex; he wanted Alex more than he ever would, or could, want someone. Lauren had nothing on Alex.
Jack couldn't do this on his own. He needed to talk to someone. But not just anyone, obviously. The only one he could talk to was John, but what if Alex sought him out, too? Jack couldn't see Alex right now. If he did, nothing good would come of that.
Jack couldn't help but relive last night. It was amazing, truly amazing. And that was not the sex-deprived idiot inside him talking. If he saw Alex now, it could go in many different ways. He might make Alex cry again, which Jack definitely did not want. He was hardly able to stand the fact that he had obviously made it happen once. Or it could turn into a fight, and although good things seemed to happen after they fought, they were just making things more complicated. Or, finally, Jack could succumb to his urges and wants and just start kissing Alex, if not more. That would only make things worse, despite how wonderful that sounded. But, even after considering all of these, Jack still had to talk to John, or else he would go crazy.
Jack rested his forehead in his hands, which were propped up above his desk by his elbows. Just as he moved into this position, the door to his office burst open and John rushed inside, talking excitedly about some stupid show, Found or something. Jack just sat there in silence.
"Whoa, why do you look really fucking hungover?" John asked, suddenly slowing down and sinking into the other chair.
Jack lifted his head to look at John for the first time, then sighed. "I wish I was hungover. Then I would have an excuse for feeling like shit."
John raised his eyebrow and leaned forward. "What's up?"
"Long story short, Alex came in to yell at me last night, we ended up having sex. I pissed him off and I don't know what to do," Jack replied. John's mouth dropped open and he stared at Jack for a while, then started laughing. Jack narrowed his eyes at his friend, crossed his arms, and leaned back in his chair. "It's not funny, John!"
John continued laughing as he stood up and grabbed Jack's hand, pulling him out of his chair, out of the room, and down the hall. Jack didn't even realize where they were going, until he was being pulled into an office on the other side of the hallway, with a familiar boy sitting at the desk in front of him. Jack wanted nothing more than to run away when he saw that Alex was sitting in the same position Jack had been in when John came in. Even worse when Alex lifted his head, and traces of dried tears and red eyes were still on his face.
"Talk," John said, letting go of Jack and slipping out of the room, closing the door behind him.
Alex looked down and covered his eyes again as Jack stood their awkwardly. They stayed like that for a while, until John banged on the door. "I don't hear talking!" he said, causing Jack to shoot another glare at him.
Jack looked down at his feet, then back up at Alex, taking a deep breath. "I..." he began, then swallowed. "I want to talk to you. But not here. Can you... come home with me tonight?"
Alex looked up at Jack curiously, blinked a few times, then nodded slowly. "Y-Yeah, I can."
Jack nodded, then opened his mouth, as if he was going to say something else. No words formed, in his mind nor through his mouth, so he slipped out of the room, pushing past John on his way out.
