I splashed Jack, making him frown.

“Hey!” he expressed, splashing me back. I wiped my face, getting the water out of my eyes.

“I’ve always wanted a pool,” I said, nuzzling my face into his hair.

“Me too. I just with it wasn’t half as tall as we are,” he said, and I smiled.

“It’s better than nothing,” I told him. “At least you can sit in it.”

“I think Josie’s enjoying it,” Jack told me, and I smiled.

“Is she swimming?” I asked, rubbing his stomach and making the water ripple.

“She’s squirmy,” he answered, and I looked down at his stomach. My eyes widened, and Jack raised an eyebrow. “What?”

“I think I just saw, like, fingers or something,” I told him, and he looked down.

“Probably. She does like to jab me,” he answered, rubbing his stomach.

“That was weird,” I told him. “Didn’t that hurt?”

“Babe, she does it all the time. You kind of learn to deal with the discomfort of another living life form inside of you,” he told me, smirking.

“You’re my hero, dude. I swear,” I told him, kissing him. He giggled, returning the kiss. He pulled away after a couple seconds, sinking down to his shoulders. I watched his long legs stretch out under the water, appearing even longer than they actually were. His baby bump was just a few inches away from sticking out of the water, and I could see the movement as Josie kicked and squirmed. “How was your pie?”

“Delicious. Thank you for running to get it for me,” he told me.

“You’re welcome,” I told him. “It only took me four diners to find.”

“Seriously?” he asked, opening his eyes and looking at me.

“Yeah. By the last one I was so happy to find it, I just told them to give me the whole pie.”

“You didn’t have to go through that much trouble,” he frowned.

“It wasn’t trouble,” I answered. “It was for you and Josie. I was determined.”

He smiled, reaching his hand out for mine.

“You’re such a good boyfriend,” h told me. “My mom was saying the same thing inside.”

“Was she?” I asked, smiling.

“Yes, she adores you,” he answered. “She loves that you’re so good to me.”

“I figure I’ve got a lot of times that I need to make up for,” I told him. “A lot of fights that weren’t even worth it.”

“I started a lot of those fights, too,” he told me, and I shook my head.

“But thy always came back to my stupid decisions,” I told him. “Like our first fight.”

”Hey, Jack,” I said, picking the pepperoni off of the pizza on my plate. “C-can you turn off the game? I kinda wanna talk to you about something.”

I watched Jack pause the game, turning to face me.

“What’s up, babe?” he asked, and I bit my lip, staring at my boyfriend of nine months.

“This is a really hard question to ask, and I know you aren’t gonna like it.”

I watched Jack furrow his eyebrows and I licked my lips, taking a deep breath.

“Are you breaking up with me?” he interrupted, and I shook my head quickly.

“No! Of course not,” I told him.

“Then spit it out. What is so fucking hard to tell me?” he asked.

“My parents are getting suspicious,” I told him, and I watched him turn his head. “They want to know why I haven’t had a girlfriend in over a year.”

“Because you’re finally in a happy fucking relationship with me!” he explained, and I bit my lip, continuing.

“They’re trying to set me up with all these girls,” I explained.

“So what are you gonna do?” he asked. “Finally come clean about us?”

“Jack,” I sighed. “You know I can’t do that.”

He shook his head, rolling his eyes.

“Right,” he answered.

“But they did find this one girl-”

“I thought you weren’t breaking up with me.”

“I’m not! Just listen. So this girl’s like, a huge church kid. She’s so naïve that she’d believe anything I told her. So, I was thinking, just to kep my parents off our back, I could-”

“No,” Jack said bluntly.

“Jack-”

“No, Alex,” he said, looking at me in disbelief. “I’m not gonna give you permission to go screw around on me!”

“I won’t be screwing around on you! She’s abstinent!”

“You cannot be seriously fucking asking me this,” he said, shaking his head.

“Jack, I’m doing this for us. So we can be together!”

“You’re doing this for yourself because you’re too scared to admit who you really are to your parents!” he yelled. “We’re together right now without you having to go off and fuck some girl!”

“I just wanna keep them off your back!”

“And get somebody else on their’s!”

“It’s not like that at all, Jack! I-”

“Fuck you!” he yelled. “Get out!”

“Jack, plea-”

“Get out! Go find someone else to fuck over, because you’re not doing it to me!” he yelled.

“Ja-”

“Out!” he screamed, standing up and pointing towards the door. I frowned, not wanting to leave.

He stared at me, and I watched tears form in his eyes. He turned, leaving his room before I could say anything else.

“That’s all behind us, Alex,” Jack said, shaking his head. “Forget about her.”

“That doesn’t take away all the guilt I feel for making you go through all that,” I told him.

He sat up, leaning his head on my shoulder.

“Baby, I forgive you,” he told me, taking my hand and putting it onto his stomach. “But we’re past that point in our relationship. We’re onto a new chapter; this chapter.”

Josie kicked just as he finished speaking, and I smiled. I kissed him, rubbing my hand back and forth over his stomach.

“I’m getting a little cold,” I told Jack. “Are you ready to go inside?”

“Yeah,” he nodded. I stood up, grabbing a hold of his hands and helping to hoist him onto his feet. We stepped out of the pool and I grabbed his towel off of the chair, wrapping it around his shoulders. I grabbed my own towel, wrapping it around myself and following him inside.

“Mom said we can move down into the guest room,” Jack told me, and I nodded.

“Cool,” I said.

“So you can go ahead and start moving clothes down if you want,” he told me.

“Yeah. I’ll grab some while we’re up there,” I told him, following behind him as he slowly moved up the stairs.

He peeled off his wet swimming trunks, letting them slosh down onto the floor. He dried himself off with the towel before reaching into the drawer and grabbing himself a pair of briefs. He pulled them on, slipping a pair of shorts on over them. I did the same, watching him sit down on the bed.

“You okay, babe?” I asked, and he nodded.

“Just tired,” he answered. “And sore.”

“I’m sorry,” I told him, sitting next to him and rubbing his stomach.

“How many more weeks?” he groaned, and I kissed his cheek.

“Six,” I told him. “Six more weeks and you can hold your baby girl.”

“Can you just knock me out and wake me up after they take her out of me?” he whined, and I smiled, shaking my head.

“No, baby,” I told him. “You have to endure the pain.”

“You hate me,” he whined, and I shook my head, cuddling him.

“I love you,” I answered.

“Let’s sleep,” Jack said, yawning. “We’ll move our stuff downstairs tomorrow.”

“Babe, it’s, like, six o’clock,” I told him.

“No it’s not,” he answered, yawning.

“Yes it is,” I told him, laughing.

“Shh,” he shushed, putting his hand over my mouth as his eyes closed. I laughed, kissing his forehead and cuddling him close.

A/N: Seven more chapters, my lovely little readers. I just finished the last chapter in my notebook today. It has the cutest ending, believe me. :)
