“Are you going home or staying here?” I asked Roni, handing her a glass of wine and watching her laugh at whatever movie she had found to watch.

“I don’t know. I’ll decide after I drain however many glasses you’re willing to give me,” she said and I raised an eyebrow.

“Well, in that case,” I said, moving to grab the wine glass out of her hand.

Her eyes widened and she pulled her hand back, making me laugh.

“Well that’s not very nice,” she responded. “If you didn’t want me to have it, you shouldn’t have offered.”

I sat down next to her, smiling and kicking my feet up on the coffee table.

“I thought it would be rude to drink a glass in front of you. That doesn’t mean I wanted to give you any,” I told her and she rolled her eyes.

“Shut up, Alex,” she responded, sipping the wine and sticking her tongue out at me.

“You’re going to get purple teeth,” I told her and she shrugged.

“I’d rather have that than yellow,” she answered and I wrinkled my nose.

“Gross,” I said, taking a sip of my own wine.

We sat in silence for a moment, and I watched her laugh over something stupid in the movie.

“So, are you regretting not going to Vegas yet?” she asked and I made a face.

“I don’t know,” I said, sighing. “It would have been fun, but I still think I made the right move by not going. It wasn’t the time.”

“Right,” she said, nodding.

I looked over at her, seeing the small pout on her lips and smiling.

“Don’t worry, RonRon. One day I’ll take you to Vegas, and some nasty stripper will let you put your face in her boobs,” I told her and she raised an eyebrow.

“What makes you think I want that to happen?”

“You told me the other night when you were drunk,” I said and she cursed under her breath. “You also told me that you wanna go there and get married by a sparkly Elvis.”

“I’m less ashamed of that part,” she said and I laughed.

“It’s okay. I’m pretty sure half of my band and crew have motorboated strippers,” I told her.

“Sounds like I’d fit right in with you guys, then,” she said and I nodded.

“Yeah, you would, actually,” I said, looking at her thoughtfully before taking another sip of my wine. “You want a job?”

“What?” she questioned, looking surprised.

“You want a job? As a crew member?” I asked and she shook her head in confusion.

“What could I possibly do to help you guys?”

“You can, um...” I trailed off, thinking for a second. “You can help Vinny with merch.”

“I don’t know what that means,” she said and I laughed.

“Selling t-shirts and stuff for the band. Vinny can always use extra hands,” I said, and she bit her lip, eying me curiously.

“Are you allowed to just hire people like this?” she questioned.

“Sure,” I said, shrugging. “I’m the boss. Well, one of them, anyway.”

“And what will I have to do for this job?”

“Well, you’ll have to travel a lot. Sometimes to different countries. And you’ll have to live on a tour bus full of guys. Then there’s all the fans and-”

She chuckled, putting her hand up.

“And basically my job title is just to sell clothes?” she questioned and I nodded.

“Pretty much. Vinny will you teach you the ropes,” I responded.

“Honestly, it sounds incredible,” she answered and I grinned.

“So you’ll do it?” I asked and she looked at me intently for a moment.

“Alex, when you leave Malibu, there’s gonna be nothing left here for me except an empty house and a city full of strangers. And I can’t go back to living in Jersey,” she said, and I could see her cringe slightly. “So yeah, of fucking course I’ll do it!”

“Really?! Yes!” I cheered excitedly, setting my drink down and turning to face her. “This is gonna be so fun!”

I grabbed her shoulders to pull her into a hug, watching her eyes widen slightly and she shoved my away. My eyes widened, watching her face and seeing her bite her lip after she realized what she had done.

“I’m sorry!” she apologized, setting her wine glass down too. “I-I- The way you grabbed me triggered a memory, and-”

“Roni!” I said, realization falling over me as I moved to hug her. “I’m so sorry! I didn’t think!”

“It’s okay,” she mumbled, wrapping her arms around me and laying her head on my chest.

“I didn’t mean to scare you,” I mumbled into her hair.

“You didn’t. I know you aren’t like that,” she answered, rubbing my back. “It’s just an automatic reaction for me.”

“But it shouldn’t be, and it breaks my heart that it is,” I told her, kissing her hair. “No one deserves to be treated like that, Roni.”

“It took me a long time to convince myself, but I know that now,” she said, pulling away. I kissed her cheek, seeing her smile as I smoothed back her dark hair.

“If anyone ever treats you like that again I’ll kill them,” I told her and she laughed.

“I’m very hopeful that you won’t have to,” she answered.

“Good,” I said, hugging her again. “Oh, and you’re staying here tonight.”

“Oh, really?” she asked, raising an eyebrow and laughing. “Says who?”

“Me,” I answered, picking my wine glass back up.

“Oh yeah? Are you gonna tuck me in and read me a bedtime story too?” she asked and I shrugged.

“I’d rather sing a lullaby. I don’t have any children’s books lying around,” I answered and she laughed.

“Oh I’d like to see this,” she answered picking her wine glass back up and crossing her legs.

“Fine,” I said, standing up before scooping her up in my arms. She squealed, trying as hard as she could not to spill the wine on the floor.

“Alexander! You can’t go sweeping girls off their feet and be gay! It’s not alright!” she cried and I laughed.

I carried her down the hallway, opening the spare bedroom and setting her on the bed.

She sat extended her legs, letting me bring the blanket up and around her while she sipped her wine.

“Okay, now where’s my lullaby?” she questioned, raising a dark eyebrow and crossing her arms.

“Honey is for bees, silly bear, and besides there’s jelly beans everywhere. It’s not what it seems in the land of dreams, don’t worry your head just go to sleep.

“It doesn’t matter how you feel, life is just a ferris wheel. It’s always up and down, don’t make a sound. When you wake up the world will come around. When you wake up the world will come around.

“It’s just the sweet weather and the peacock feathers. In the morning it will all be better. It’s not what it seems in the land of dreams. Don’t worry your head just go to sleep.

“When you wake up the world will come around. When you wake up the world will come around.

“Honey is for bees, silly bear, and besides there’s jelly beans everywhere. It’s not what it seems in the land of dreams. Don’t worry your head just go to sleep.”

I gave Roni a smile, seeing her laugh and shake her head.

“There, now you’ve had a lullaby and you’re all tucked in. Good night,” I said, standing up to turn the light off.

I left the room, hearing him stumble out of bed a few seconds later.

“Are you seriously expecting me to go to sleep? ‘Cause that’s not happening,” she said and I laughed.

“Of course not. Come on, let’s watch a movie. I still have half a bottle of wine,” I told her, linking elbows and walking back into the living room with her.

***

I opened my eyes, hearing someone pounding loudly on the door. I glanced around the room, seeing it was only nine in the morning.

I got out of bed, running my fingers through my hair as I walked through the house towards the front door. Roni had already left for her daily morning run, so I knew it couldn’t be her. She never came to the front door anyway.

I had no idea who to expect waiting on the other side of the door. I peered into the peephole, seeing a messy array of black and platinum hair on the other side.

I furrowed my eyebrow, hearing them knock again.

“Just a minute,” I called back, unlocking the dead bolt and pulling the door open.

My heart stopped as I took in who was standing at my door.

“J-Jack?” I asked quietly, eyes running over him. I looked into his tired brown eyes, seeing him give me a small smile. “W-what are you-”

My sentence was cut off as I was shoved back against the door, Jack’s lips attached to mine.

♠ ♠ ♠:O
This was a quick chapter, I pumped it out in like an hour, lmfao.
Hopefully it doesn't show.
Alright, so I had this plan because you guys gave me such good feedback, that I was gonna update every night until school started on Tuesday, so you all won't be as upset when I'm readjusting to all that shit and not updating as much as I have been this summer.
But then I fell in love with The Inbetweeners, and that plan went to shit because I spent the last two nights watching the first two seasons of that. But I can't find the third, so I decided to give you guys an update :)
But anyway, I'll probably try to crank out another chapter before tomorrow night because I'm really excited for the next chapter ;)
I don't even know why I wrote this super long author's note, but anyway!
Comment and enjoy <3
