Summary: “Sometimes I just, I wish I was a girl, one just his type. Then we’d be perfect together, you know?”
Disclaimer: I don't own Jack, Alex, or anyone in the lovely band and crew that make up All Time Low. They all own each other. Amen.
http://turnthepageover.livejournal.com/36869.html “You don’t have to do this, Alex,” Rian said, sitting on my bed as he watched me drag out all the suitcases I had in my closet.
“I know. I don’t have to do anything,” I told him and he sighed.
“Okay, let me rephrase that: I wish you wouldn’t do this, Alex,” he said, frowning as I set a suitcase down next to him. I unzipped it, crossing the room and taking out a dresser drawer and setting it on my bed next to the suitcase.
“I need to,” I told him, looking up into his sad eyes.
“Can’t you just stay here and avoid him like a normal breakup?” he asked and I rolled my eyes.
“No. We didn’t break up, for one. And two, I can’t avoid him. I run into him going to fucking Taco Bell or the grocery store,” I told him. “I just need to get out of Maryland, Ri. Everything in this town reminds me of Jack in some way. If I’m gonna forget about him, I need to get the hell outta here.”
“You can’t completely forget about him, G,” he said, playing with the zipper on the suitcase. “He’s in the band too.”
“I know,” I answered, taking my underwear out of the drawer and shoving them into the suitcase. “I just need time to get over my feelings for him.”
“You know you’re never gonna be able to do that,” Rian said, and I bit my lip, rolling up a t-shirt to save room in my suitcase. “What’s gonna happen to the band, Alex?”
“The band will be fine,” I told him, feeling his eyes burning into me. I looked up, sighing as I sat down on the bed. “Seriously, Rian. I’m not gonna let anything happen to the band. I can’t live without the band. Plus I love all of you too much to do that to you.”
He stared at me, looking unconvinced and making my heart wrench.
“I just need to clear my head, Ri. Please try to understand,” I said and he frowned, looking down.
“I’m gonna miss you too much, Gaskarth,” he said, and I could hear the sadness in his voice. I sighed, pushing the suitcase out of my way and moving closer to him. I wrapped my arms around him in a hug, feeling him rest his head on my shoulder.
“I’ll be a phone call away, Ri,” I told him, and he sniffed.
“All the way across the fucking country,” he answered and I rested my head against his.
“We can Facetime and Skype. It’ll be like I’m right here,” I told him and he shook his head.
“I won’t be able to hug you,” he said, pouting. “I need my Gaskarth hugs.”
I laughed, rolling my eyes. “You’re such a pussy, Dawson. What did you do when Cassadee wasn’t living with you?”
“I harassed you all the time, remember?” he said. “Fuck, what if Cass goes back home. I’ll be all alone.”
“Relax, Rian,” I said, squeezing him tighter. “Cass isn’t gonna leave you. Plus I won’t be gone forever. It’ll be a couple months at the most. We have to start recording the new album soon.”
I heard footsteps, looking up at the door and seeing Cassadee standing there with Flyzik.
“Matt’s here,” she stated, looking at Rian and I with sad eyes.
Matt walked into the room, glancing around and seeing the suitcases laying on the floor.
“I thought you were bluffing,” he said and I shook my head. “Where are you going?”
“Malibu,” I answered, feeling Rian tense up.
Matt twisted his lip ring between his teeth, looking around the small room again.
“Are you sure about this, Alex?” he asked and I nodded.
“I booked my flight. I found a house,” I told him. “No turning back now.”
“For how long?” he asked and I wiggled my nose.
“Two months, maybe?” I answered, unsure. I hadn’t thought that far ahead.
“Okay,” he said, leaning against my dresser. “I know I can’t change your mind once it’s made up.”
“You can come visit,” I said, squeezing Rian’s knee. “It’s close to Anaheim. We can go to Disneyland.”
Matt rolled his eyes, cracking a small smile.
“What does your mom have to say about all this?” he asked. “Or didn’t you tell her?”
“I didn’t tell her the whole story,” I answered, shrugging. “But she basically told me I’m a big boy who can make his own decisions.”
“Alright,” he answered. “If your mom is even okay with it, then there’s really nothing we can about it,” he said, looking down at Rian. “When are you leaving?”
“Day after tomorrow,” I said. “I figured I’d say bye to the crew and stuff tomorrow night. Maybe have a few drinks here.”
“Are you telling Jack?” he asked and I looked down at the floor.
“I didn’t plan on it,” I said. “I didn’t think it mattered. He won’t care much anyway.”
Matt sighed, chewing on his lip ring again.
“Of course he’ll care, you’re his best friend,” he said and I rolled my eyes.
“No I’m not,” I said, “and even if I am, that doesn’t make me wanna stay any more.”
“Al-”
“I don’t wanna talk about this, Matt,” I said and he rolled his green eyes.
“I know. That’s why you’re running from it,” he answered and I glared.
“Can you guys not fight?” Rian asked, lifting his head and looking between me and Matt. “Alex is leaving in two days. You won’t be spending time with him like this for a few months, Matt. Don’t fucking ruin it.”
“I’m sorry,” Matt said, sighing. “Do you need any help, Alex?”
“I’m just packing up my clothes,” I told him and he nodded.
“I’ll help you,” he answered, walking over and grabbing the clothes out of my closet.
I looked over at Rian, who was continuing to pout on my bed.
“Rian,” I said, and he looked up. “This isn’t a bad thing. Just think about it, it’ll give me time to work on the new music. And I’ll already be out there when it comes time to record.”
“But I like helping you,” he said, pouting more and I smiled.
“When did you become so attached to me?” I asked him.
“I don’t know. I think your gayness is rubbing off on me,” he said and I laughed, kissing his forehead before I standing up.
“If Cassadee hadn’t taught me how to be a girl, I would be more concerned about that,” I told him teasingly.
“Maybe Cass is just a really feminine guy,” Matt answered and I shook my head.
“No, I know she’s a girl. She showed me her bikini wax,” I said and Rian’s eyes went wide.
“Alex! You can’t just look at my girlfriend’s vagina! That’s fucked up!” he exclaimed and I shook my head.
“She didn’t show me her vagina. It was more like,” I motioned with my hands to the front of my shorts and he stared at me, appalled.
“I can’t believe you looked! Like, you’re gay! Aren’t you supposed to be terrified of vaginas?!”
“I didn’t enjoy it!” I said, hearing Matt laugh at the awkward conversation. “She just wanted to know if that’s what I wanted!”
“You fucking perv!” he exclaimed and Matt cracked up at the look on my face.
“I didn’t want to see it!”

I settled my suitcases on the floor, grabbing my final one to pack. I started on it when I heard a knock on the door.
“Come in,” I said, figuring it was just Cassadee or Rian.
“What are you doing?” I heard a familiar voice question, and I looked up into Jack’s dark, curious eyes.
“Packing,” I answered shortly, turning away from him and continuing to pack.
“Why?” he asked, and I could hear his soft footsteps as he moved closer.
“I told you I was leaving, Jack,” I said, not looking up. I didn’t wanna see the look on his face. I didn’t want to second guess what I was doing.
“You aren’t going anywhere, Alex,” he said, and I gripped the shirt in my hands tightly. “All you’re doing is freaking Rian and the rest of the guys out.”
“I’m leaving,” I said, shooting him a glare. “I’m getting out of here for a while.”
“Right,” he said, sarcastically. “You’re ‘running away’ from your problems, right?”
“Why are you here?” I demanded, feeling him grab my arm.
“Matt called me,” he answered, trying to turn my body to make me look at him.
“That’s unfortunate. But I never said I wanted to see you, so you need to go,” I said, trying to pull my arm away from him.
“Alex, you’re being dramatic,” he told me and I scoffed.
“Get your fucking hands off of me,” I told him, glaring.
“Why? I would think you want me to touch you,” Jack said, and I could feel my hands beginning to shake as anger bubbled inside me.
“Are you fucking serious?” I demanded, shoving him away from me. “Get the fuck out, Jack! I don’t want to see your face.”
“You know, you say that you’re so in love with me, but you never want anything to fucking do with me,” he said. “You’re always telling me to get the fuck away from you, or to not talk to you. It’s no wonder I don’t fucking love you back, Alex!”
I felt a pang in my chest, tears pricking my eyes as I stared at him.
“That,” I said, voice cracking slightly. “That’s why I’m leaving.”
“You aren’t fooling me,” Jack said, unphased by my tears, which only made them burn stronger.
“You’re such an asshole,” I told him. “Do you realize that?”
“Whatever, Alex,” he said and I shook my head.
“I wish I didn’t love you,” I told him.
“Then don’t!” he said and I cringed.
“Do you care about me at all?” I asked, shaking my head.
“I’m here, aren’t I?” he said and I sighed.
“Please leave,” I said, glancing towards the door. “I have an early flight to catch tomorrow. I need to finish packing so I can get some sleep.”
“Give it up, Alex,” he said, moving closer.
“Just go,” I choked, hearing him sigh.
“I’ll talk to you tomorrow,” he said, moving away from me.
“Whatever, Jack,” I mumbled. “Goodbye.”
