The next day, Alex woke up with a goofy smile on his face, turning around to gaze at his boyfriend. Boyfriend. It seemed so strange to him. The boy had never had a boyfriend or a girlfriend before. But then, his teenage years had pretty much been stolen from him. He had an excuse.

'Hey, babe.' Jack croaked, having just woken up.

Hiya.' Alex replied, soft smile on his face.

For a change, the golden-haired boy wasn't dreading school today. This was going to be a good day, he was sure of it. He had Jack to be there for him...

Didn't he?

-----------------------------------------

Hand suddenly ripped from Jack's grip, Alex felt his head sharply collide with hard metal, falling to the floor. He looked up, humiliation evident in his features, to see who had been the culprit. Some guy the boy didn't even fucking know. Typical. Everyone always had to get to Alex, didn't they? Regardless of whether they knew him or not. What could he possibly have fucking done to piss off someone he'd never met?

'Fuckin' fag.' The guy said, simply walking off.

There were a few people looking over in Alex's direction, and still humiliated, Alex held his shaking hand out for Jack to help him up. For some reason or another, Jack just kind of looked around, stalling. Frowning, Alex got up himself a few seconds later, brushing off his jeans.

'W-why didn't you help me up?' The poor boy asked shyly.

'Didn't know you wanted help up.' Jack muttered.

The golden-haired boy's eyebrows furrowed. Jack was obviously lying, but he just wasn't in the mood to confront him, so he left it.

-----------------------------------

In English, Jack was talking to the person who was sitting at the table next to him, who didn't seem to be capable of whispering, seeing as he was talking about Alex quite loudly, as if the boy wasn't even there.

'Dude, why have you been hanging with Gaskarth recently?' The ignorant boy asked.

Jack just kind of stared down, suddenly taking great interest in the wooden table he was seated at, avoiding the question.

'You were fucking holding hands with him earlier, man! What, are you two a fucking thing all of a sudden?'

'N-no, of course not!' Jack reassured quickly, Alex snapping his head round to glare at them both, because had Jack just fucking heard himself?

'The fuck are you looking at, Gaskarth?' The boy sneered. 'Angry that Jack isn't a disgusting little queer like you?'

Alex just glared at the boy, filled with rage.

'Jack, what the fuck are you doing?' Alex asked angrily.

'I-I'm sorry, Lex. I panicked! I didn't mean it!' Jack whispered.

Alex sighed.

'Okay. But you gotta stop fucking doing this. Stop acting as if you don't know me, you're really fucking starting to get on my fucking nerves.'

---------------------------------------

'Okay, what the fuck is your problem?!' Alex shouted, approaching from behind Jack and slamming said boy's locker shut with force.

'W-what?' Jack laughed nervously.

'You fucking know what. You've been avoiding me all day, Jack! Just tell me the fucking truth instead of leading me on, can't you see how fucking broken I am already?!'

'L-Lex...' Jack stuttered.

'Tell me!'  Alex screamed.

'I... I was embarrassed.' Jack whispered.

'Of what?' Alex asked, eyes narrowed.

Jack looked around at the large crowd they had gathered. Yeah, he hated doing this to Alex, but he had a reputation to uphold. Sure, he wasn't the most popular guy in school, but he was one of those guys everyone just respected. He wasn't about to give that up for some kid. It was fucked up, but no one liked Alex because of his home situation. That's just how it goes. Jack felt for the kid and all, but he wasn't going to sacrifice anything for him. What did the boy fucking expect from him?

'Of you.' Jack said, more confidently. 'I only kissed you because I felt sorry for you. It was a mistake. I'm not a fucking queer like you. Not my problem if you can't grasp that.'

His little show had caused the mob of teenagers around them to gasp, which then turned into taunting laughs a few seconds later. Alex looked around hopelessly, bullying eyes boring into him all the while. He was out of place. He didn't belong. He had to get out of here before he had a fucking panic attack.

'You fucking scumbag.' He whispered to Jack, his quiet voice a mix of venom and pure sadness, before running out as quickly as he could, knowing he was only running from one disgusting situation to the next, his daily beating just waiting for him.

Jack had earned himself a lot of respect and upheld his reputation with what he had just done. Despite that fact, he felt fucking awful. The kid hadn't deserved that. But hey, what could he do?

-----------------------------

Alex lay on his shitty, filthy floor, having just endured a brutal beating from his drunk-as-fuck father. Furious at the days events, he laughed bitterly at the fact that whenever you think things are finally starting to look up, they're always just gonna come crashing down.

A/N: Ugh sorry to end the Jalex before it started. It'll be back soon. Not entirely sure I like this chapter.
